lost/stolen wallet :(

been out in the west end and i suspect i've been pickpocketed, guess its my own fault for being carless with my wallet but i could really do with some advice please

well the contents of my wallet included quite a bit of money, national insurance card, provisional drivers license with counterpart, some expired student cards and discount cards, credit cards and a debit card.

As soon as i noticed i didn't have my wallet on me i called the bank and credit card companies to cancel my cards and went to the police station right away to report it. Tomorrow i'm planning on going to the job centre to report my ni card as stolen and the post office to get a dvla form.

is there anything else i can do? or should do? will i be liable if someone commits identity theft????

Blimey you still had your NI card I think I lost mine less than a year after I got it. I wouldn;t waste your time reporting that.

I would!

The op has lost cards and documents thatt hold masses of information about him.

A NI number could be used in numerous ways and I would contact the NI office ( which I think is in New Castle) straight away.

OP- you have done the right thing in reporting the loss of the cards immediately and reporting it to the police as it is now on record.

If it was me, I would phone the NI office and the DVLA today, and then send a letter in the post to them, just to cover my back.

My OH lost his wallet on the way to work a few years back and we went through reporting to the police card , bank, DVLA etc. However , later that day a guy turned up at our door with his wallet ( all present and correct). He was a bin man, found it on their rounds, chucked it in the cab and forgotten about until his shift ended.

So you never know OP, you might be lucky.

thank you for the advice rang them up.. got forms and replacements coming.

i don't think i'll be so lucky in terms of ever seeing my wallet again.. rang the police station to see if anything was handed in and there was nothing.

nevermind... and i think i'll be sure to get a credit report in the future just incase.
