A bowel question

Can the bowels have an effect on the back and breathing ? I woke up the other day with chronic backache, but it seemed to vanish as soon as I went to the toilet (which I did straight after waking up).

Today after my main meal I had slight difficulty in breathing, it just felt like my chest was tight and my lungs couldn't expand enough. This lasted about 2 hours, then happened again after supper. I then went to the toilet and my breathing improved a lot (although it didn't return to normal fully).

Is this purely a coincidence or could they be related ? I go to the toilet every other day.

Purely just curious if they could be linked or if it is either purely coincidence or "all in the head".

I've known people on pain killers who have suffered constipation whilst on them and leading to pain in back, after taking laxatives and going to loo the back pain eased.

Being constipated can make me feel dizzy and get panic attacks.

Back pain, relieved by passing a stool can also by a sign of IBS. Are your stools 'normal' or either to hard or to soft?.

When my sister was in hospital for severe constipation (everything was backed up and blocked up) she had agonising pain that she said was worse than child-birth.. they even put her on Morphine

So yes, it probably can produce pain repercussions elsewhere

my husband has recently been to have his back checked and they asked him if he ever had bad gas or cramps in his bowels as this is a sign of back problems, so i guess its all related somehow or it can be.

My gallstones used to give me a low throbbing pain which was exactly like back pain, they didn't just give me problems in the usual attacks. I recall you have them too. Something like breathing you should really get checked out tho.

When I was at school, I was told back pain either means lung trouble or kidney.

Excruciating pain and the desire to sleep or itch insanely is linked to gall bladder issues.

Yes, I know. What you're describing are the regular full blown attacks which I got regularly. However they also gave me a daily throbbing back pain in the lower-middle area. Now I've had the op, I dont have back pain.

A full bowel can press on all sorts of bits on your insides giving referred pain.
I get it in abdomen and tops of legs but then as soon as I'm dosed up on fibregel and manage to pass it all the pressure on legs just disappears.
