Which side should you wear your Poppy?

I always thought it was left, then I have noticed a few TV presenters ( female) wearing on the right, any idea on Poppy Etiquette?

If I'm wearing a coat I wear it down the middle in the button hole but now as I've got a double breasted one it'll be on the side hehe.

Someone had a right go at me in the street the other day for wearing it on the wrong side. At least I wear one.

Is that a fact???

I always wear mine on the left but then I did come out on some questionnaire thing as having a male brain; maybe that explains it.

I always thought that you wear the poppy on the left is because your heart is on the left.
The poppy should be close to your heart.
(The same reason why you wear your wedding ring on your left hand)

Left for me.

If I can keep it on long enough, I always lose mine on the same day I get it This year's one lasted a whole 4 hours.

Might be wrong but get the sense that some military people feel that those who are or have been members of the Armed Forces, [past or present], are entitled to wear their poppy on the left; whereas civilians should wear it on the right.

Don't approve as a rule of people wearing those oversized poppies* - war widows excepted. They are a bit too, "look at me" for my personal taste. AFAIC poppies are an icon of remembrance, not fashion accessories.

* Fine of course on the front of trucks, vans and cars!

I've not heard this before but I really don't think it matters at all, I'm sure they would rather people wear a poppy anywhere...left, right, on their collar, hat, pinned to their backside where ever, than not wear one at all. It's a symbolic, all be it small gesture.

Isn't it about a contribution to the British Legion?

I've contributed and I don't care if people know it or not. I've only had my poppy for a day and I've lost it, but if I still had it, I wouldn't be worrying about it so-called poppy etiquette.

It's about the principle not the display.

Agree - if your poppy has a leaf. Scottish poppies don't have one. If you notice, the Queens poppy display has one that doesn't have a leaf - this is in recognition of that foreign land.

Mine is on the right on the edge of the (oversized) collar on my coat.

Was the only place I could put it without having to stick a pin in my coat which I am NOT doing
