Possible Guest Star in The End of Time?

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, but according to one review on Planet Gallifrey (http://planetgallifrey.blogspot.com/)

spoiler:
"Oh, and the name of the base (and the episode, I suppose) is actually quite a strong hint toward an upcoming guest star in the next episode."

Does this really mean (as it implies to me anyway)

spoiler:
David Bowie

is about to make an appearance?!

Seems too far-fetched to be true, but it would be awesome if it is!

Cheers,

docmorrison

I thought it was

Bowie Base > Mars >> David Bowie's 'Life on Mars' >> BBC show 'Life on Mars' based on the song >> Sam Tyler >> John Simm >> The Master

But that could be just about tenuous enough to be wrong though!

A Bowie cameo would be fun!

This is about the 6th time this has been brought up

I thought this too at first but as others have mentioned it probably only referes to the fact that

spoiler:
John Simm is returning

Good point, sorry folks! My brain is clearly having a rather slow Friday.

But if he turned up as the Goblin King it would be good fun.

It would be Brilliant if Bowie turned up as the Goblin King.
You know, I always thought Doctor Who should be more about Goblins...

If the clue is about John Simm though It does seem a little odd for the reviewer to talk about a clue to an unknown upcoming guest star yet a couple of lines later mention that John Simm is in the Finale.

Why bother talking about this clue if he is just going to give the answer in the next paragraph?

Which is why I am wildly (and probably foolishly) expecting the Bowie lol - doubt it will happen but as I said, it would be awesome

God, I hope not. I love the man's music but someone really should have gently told him years ago that he can't act for toffee!

Let's get real, folks. There is no - none - absolutely ZERO - chance of David Bowie being a guest star on Doctor Who. If he was, there is no - none - absolutely ZERO chance they wouldn't already be milking it for all it's worth.

It's not merely foolish to imagine this might have even a remote chance of being true. It's light years beyond foolish.

Just like they're milking having James Bond in it?

I don't think Bowie will be in it though

First off - Dalton isn't in Waters of Mars, which is the one being promoted at the moment.

Secondly, Dalton last played Bond twenty years ago! Calling him Bond is like calling Sylvester McCoy the Doctor!

First off people are suggesting Bowie for the Finale not WoM so if he was in the Finale he wouldn't be promoted yet like Dalton (again I doubt Bowie is in it)

Second Dalton is still the biggest guest star the programme has ever had

Thirdly No need to act like a prat is there?

ps People still call Connery Bond and Hartnell The Doctor

I had a hunch that
spoiler:
there is a three strikes and your out policy on altering fixed points in time. and whatever he does on mars is the third and last time and seals his fate

Well if Bowie was to appear we'll probably hear all about it before ..far too good a magazine cover chance to pass up ..

Not sure he'll appear though -I think it's maybe just a reference to his song Life on Mars ..not because of the tv show but because Adelaide maybe named the base after the singer of her favourite song ..

Yep thats the bit that puzzles -if it's a John Simm/Life on Mars reference -or Adelaide's fave artist why do they say it's a clue to a upcoming guest star ...

and how did the reviewer know it's a clue to a upcoming guest star? were they told in a press pack or is something revealed in the trailer that follows The waters of Mars .. ?

perhaps Bowie has dusted off the wig he wore as the Goblin King and is returning as Romana.

I disagree. I've only seen him in labyrinth, the man who fell to earth and the prestige, but I thought he was perfectly passable in each. And he's David frickin' Bowie!

All he had to do in The Man Who Fell To Earth was wander around looking weird. Bar the singing, that's pretty much what he does in the day job. It doesn't matter if he's David frickin' Bowie or not, that doesn't mean he can act!

Well the last thing I remember seeing him in (besides Extras) was The Prestige, and he was fine in that. Certainly up to the level of most Who guest stars.

No, you're right. The fact that he's david bowie is just a bonus. However, his performance in the prestige was up to the standards of who. and theres always the chance he might sing!
