Waiting for the abuse to start. She was obviously asked a question (common theme in interviews, I find ) and she answered. Her comments are always posted, like she says, because they appear to be the most controversial.

The article made me laugh, I think Rochelle has a sense of humour and seems really well spoken.
She is always being reported as 'blasting' people- why do you never see that word outside of celeb news headlines?

Just sounds like a bit of a tongue-in-cheek response.

According to DS it seems everybody is 'blasting' and 'slamming' somebody else at some point!!

I haven't really seen The Saturdays mentioned much on DS...

If it was Krusty making that statement, I could understand

It is true, everyone is either "blasting" "Slamming" someone. Although the artical is quite funny with all its "" around the words.

Every day there seems to be "Person A 'slams' Person B" or the like. I doubt they actually went outside, shouted "Hey Person B, I SLAM you!" and DS is picking it up. It's such a stupid term anyway, same goes for 'blasts'. If anyone blasts anyone else, it should be with a automatic weapon (and preferrably aimed in the direction of Katie Price...

Well i agree there is lot of bitterness and jealousy on here unfortunately.
You just have to look at the nasty threads calling people ugly. But you do get nice posters as well but not enough. It is still a great site though to debate with these people.

Yes, what is with DS's 'slam' and 'blast' all the time? Other sites I visit have commented on it, and it's good to see people here have noticed it too. Is it just lazy journalism that's to blame, or something more sinister?

I agree, that type of sensationalist headline is the laziest type of journalism. I think someone need to buy the DS reporters a thesaurus, or else send them on a journalism course! hehe

The quote seems to be a tongue-in-cheek comment on the absurdity of the sensationalist tabloid language used by DS (DigitalSpy in this case, not the Daily Star) in some of their stories.

Reporting this very minor comment in their usual house style, DS seem to reinforce the young lady's point somewhat.

I'm with Rochelle on this one. She seems to have a very bad public image(people seem to identify her as being the b*tch from The Saturdays) and I think this is very much due to all the negative stories that are created about her here. Jamelia used to experience the same thing when she was famous.

If that's blasting, she must be an absolute sweetheart when she's okay. I was reading down the article whilst waiting for the 'blasting part'. That's what I'd call a little criticism, not blasting.

Whilst I agree with this, I read her comments as being very tongue-in-cheek.

It's not just celeb news; our local paper is full of it. Every week you've got some pensioner whose bin didn't get collected "blasting" and "slamming" the council.

But certainly nobody but journalists ever uses it.

Gosh, I guess somehow I've missed all those stories. I've never even heard of the Saturdays, much less their singer Michelle.

I read the article linked, though, and it did seem very toungue in cheek! I agree with those who have said that "blast" and "slam" are overused in the British press, judging from my years of perusing the "front pages" part of the Sky News website. How about a few "rips into" or something just for a bit of a change?

I wonder if we'll ever see a headline 'Noel Gallagher constructivly critisises Robbie'. ??
(For eg.)
or
'Katy Perry politley joshes Lily Allen'.

That's not what this is about - the woman (whoever she is - I've heard of the Saturdays but wouldn't know her from Adam) wasn't 'blasting' forum posts , she was 'blasting' the DS 'News' stories which admittedly are often a bit ridiculous.
