Does any one else fear a DT overload?

Does any one else fear a DT overload in the run up to Christmas / New Year

We've got...

Buzzcocks
QI
His Hamlet
Alan Carr

But then again... is it possible to have too much of a good thing?

You don't actually have to watch any of them!

Erm, I imagine those shows will appeal to different people so I doubt very much anyone other than his fans would actually decide to watch all of those programs, tbh.

Oh but Stcoop - I do, I do have to. (Actually I watch QI and sometimes catch Buzzcocks anyway - and Hamlet will doubtless be fantastic). Don't think I could stomach the Alan Carr though...

Not sure, but I believe it was recorded many months ago for the festive season.

If I felt that I'd just not watch the other programmes and stick to DW...it's kind of simple when you think about it

Yes, thank god for the 'off' button on my telly, I'll be at the cinema watching Amelia!

In all fairness, DT being all over TV land in the these last two months of the year is hardly a suprise, and I don't mean it in a way that, "oh he deserves to be on tv 24 hours" way (although I have no issue if that ever happend!!!), but he is basically being the BBC's publicity machine for his last episodes. What better why to tell the country that this man is leaving Doctor Who (and to get as many ratings as possible), than sticking him in nearly every programme possible!!! And I don't think it would be an overload, because as Muttley rightly pointed out, these programmes are usually more than less, are watched by different people. And people who want to avoid Tennant can easily do so. Not unless they are being tied to some chair that is, and being forced to watch it.

I don't watch much TV anyway - mostly because of lack of time due to work - and as Who is one of the few I do watch and DT isn't my favourite ever Doctor it's easy for me!

Let the guy cash in now. Next year might be a bit of a lean patch for him as he will be 'last years news'.
An actors life/income is notoriously unreliable.
If this Pilot for an American series isn't picked up he'll be looking for employment.

I've been having a DT overload for the past four years. Having seen seven Doctors come and go in my lifetime and watched every surviving episode, to me Tennant is by far the least memorable so I'm a bit sick of hearing about him. I can't understand why he's supposedly such a big deal.

Well I don't watch any of the other shows but I love QI. So it'll be nice to see him on that, maybe it'll be a sci-fi/spacey related episode. What letter are we up to now? G? Galaxies as a topic perhaps

I think the theme for the episode he's appearing on is Groovy.

Looks like we can add Graham Norton's show to the list this Monday too!

Still, we'll miss him when he's gone eh?

I'm not sure about the theme, but I remember reading a comment that was either made on Fry's or Alan's Twitter page, that DT seemed quite lost in the show!!! So it will be intersting to see what topic it is!!!

Completely agree - although to be fair to David Tennant I've only watched DW since Tom Baker but agree that he is not the greatest Doctor by any stretch. Tom Baker is outstanding and I rate him and Chris Eccleston as the most interesting incarnations of the character and streets ahead of any other actors to play the part. I guess vaguely good looks and a willingness to play the publicity machine to kick start the rest of a career must be worth more than quietly getting on with it like DT's predecessor.

I fear less the DT overload so much as I hope he can escape DW and prove to be more than a one trick pony.

watch Secret Smile; Blackpool; Recovery; Einstein & Eddington and earlier stuff like Taking Over the Asylum and you will realise that he aint no one trick pony!!

and of course, don't forget his Shakespearean dramas darling

versatile ACTOR is what I would call it

I think he has already proved this beyond reasonable doubt, tbh.

Ahhh, a member of the highly educational 'we want David Tennant's babies' thread no doubt Fair enough, you've got your opinion. I'll stick with mine thank you, on the basis that I have seen those programmes and I can make up my own mind and I don't live in a fantasy land!

P.S it's 'ain't' and no I am not your 'darling', bless you for the compliment though, how...err....sweet

As you say, it is each person's opinion. I don't personally think that someone who can play roles as diverse as those in Blackpool, Secret Smile, Takin' Over the Asylum and Hamlet can be called a one trick pony myself.
