Play.com issue perhaps?

I may be just being cautious- but, yesterday morning at about 9.30am i placed an order for a dvd. About 1 hour after that i went back to see the status and it said 'packing'. I then saw the money was taken from my card, however i have just checked my emails and now dispatch notification and the status still says packing.

Is it a chance that the order may have already been posted with no notification?

Just wondered if this has happened to anyone before

Contact Play and ask if there's a problem?

The money has always been taken at the point of 'packing' in my experience as this is the point that the order is processed. Otherwise they could find you don't have the money to meet the order and they would have wasted their time.

The BBC article looks like something completely unrelated to your query. Play.com can be pretty slow sometimes at dispatching... they can take anything from a couple of hours to a couple of working days to dispatch!

To say it is 'packing' is rather misleading it really means your order is being processed, i.e. in a queue to be packed!

Right now i am a little confused..

Just recieved an email saying ONE of my orders has been dispatched, went to play.com to see the status, both orders still under packing, the other order hasn't been dispatched.

So i'm still rather confused. But i havn't recieved anybody else's emails so thats a bonus i guess.

This happens quite a lot with Play - we have had LOADS! of stuff from them. They never send anything out in the same parcel - always individually - and sometimes they dont update the account details very quickly. Give them a bit longer and any problems after that - just give them a ring as they are usually very helpful.

Many times I have had products drop through my letterbox - yet the Play website still states 'order taken'

i am sure you wont have a problem with play

they charge and despatch each item separately

we've never had a problem

1 dvd never appeared, they sent a copy
1 memory stick was sent wrongly, they sent a correction

Does play make a difference between packing and due for dispatch.
Was just thinking that if it didn't and since the rm strike is off and they've gone back to them it could be sitting in dispatch waiting for the van to pick it up which with backlogs for collections could take an extra day or two.

I've had emails sent out from amazon in the past saying that item on way and even got the trackin mumber but when you look at the status of the order on the web site it still say being processed. Don't think you've got any cause for concern just yet.

Play.com's order processing and notification system is rubbish - my last order in September arrived within a week yet the system still says "packing"nearly 2 months later! I never seem to get "item dispatched" emails from Play.com yet they can manage to send me their advertising.

Just be a little bit patient, the stuff will arrive, don't forget it's coming from Jersey and each item will probably be sent separately.

Worry not. This has happened to me many times. I only worry if the item doesn't turn up.

A few years ago a boxset that cost me £40 didn't turn up. Play sent out another to me. Sod's law the first one turned up the next day, so I had 2. (they also refunded me for the first one and didn't take any money for the replacement) I had both of them for nowt. I explained all this to Play.Com and they told me to keep them. I sold one of them on Ebay.
