usb socket on HD box

So what is the USB next to the card slot for? i put my memory stick inand nothing?

Its not currently implemented. It does have one use though - if you have a PS3 it's a handy charging point for the controllers.

Is it now powered on Samsungs with the new EPG? Mine wasn't on the old EPG (not tried it since the update) but my Thomson's is.

Would be interesting if it is. I am guessing that you wouldn't suddenly add power to a previously un-powered USB unless you intended to do something with it.

I'd be a bit careful with using the USB socket on the Thomsons to charge things up, especially if the box is in use (or recording in standby).
The power-supplies in these boxes are running right on the edge, so taking up to an extra 0.5A from the 5v rail via the USB port probably won't help reliability.
