I Knew It And I Say "i Told You So"

I dont normally say i told you so but im afraid i have to say it to a few groups of people!

1: Those who did nothing but moan at sky for the delay in the EPG arriving

2: Those who upgraded to Sky HD just for the new EPG

3: to those who wanted the NEW EPG so much that it took up most of your time and life that you now turn round and hate it for what every reasons u have.

I would much rather have the new EPG than the old one. infact, when i use a relatives Sky + it seems inferior compared to the new one.

I cant help but laugh when i see post, moaning about the epg and sky. and the posts are from the people who got so excited over it.

Who cares that u dont like it. end of the day sky try and try there best to please everyone but they cant. Just deal with the new EPG and use it in the way its meant to be used instead of spending so much time moaning about it. If it has faults, its down to your moaning which prob forced Sky to release it early/

I TOLD YOU SO

Yes, the new EPG has many new features and enhancements that make it potentially much better than the old one.

However, it has issues for a great many people, including me.
It has made many boxes more unstable, and far more likely to have recordings fail, which as far as I'm concerned is a big issue.

I wouldn't want to go back to the old software for many reasons, but if reliability has been compromised, which is fundamental to any PVR system, which it has in my experience, then Sky need to urgently address that.

I TOLD YOU SO

I don't fall into any of the above groups - I was drawn to this post by the headline...

Having read your post I am still trying to fathom what you "told" these people for you to now be able to "tell them so..."

If people have a faulty product it is their right to complain about it. I am also fairly sure that Sky had a properly thought out launch programme for the new EPG, which was, in absolutely no way, affected by the collective missives of a bunch of people on a forum that represents a fraction of its total user base.

In fact, the only reason I can see for your post is for you to collectively insult a lot of people and appear smug.

Edit: out of curiosity I looked at your posting history to see what "you told everyone" and I am still none the wiser.

Well said. Tbh after playing with it last night I no-longer hate it but I do wish they'd left it alone. It's badly designed, badly implemented and-on my 006 Samsung-slow and clunky.

Sigh.

Still - as long as it's no less reliable I will tolerate it. As my eyes/brain get used to the new design it seems less cluttered.

I agree that there are some parts that could have been better thought out, but overall I like it. I like begin able to actually read the programme titles for a start as they now have more "screen real estate" in that it can use the full size of a wide-screen TV. I also like the search function and being able to set a programme to record from the banner. The new software has also sorted another minor but irritating problem that I had had since getting the box. Whenever play was paused or rewound, when you went back to play again there was an annoying delay of several seconds before the sound came on. That has now gone and it responds much better in every way compared to before.

Well the only "told you so" was plenty of people warned you that the new EPG was full of bugs.

But in spite of that, most of you eagerly wanted the new EPG, and dismissed the bugs a poor old faulty thomson hardware.

Once the Pace boxes got the new EPG and they started to experience bugs, you still didn't believe there were problems.

Now some Samsungs have the new EPG and some of them are experiencing bugs are you starting to get the picture that there are some serious bugs in the new EPG?

Or will you have to wait a bit longer until Amstrad owners get the new EPG and they too start reporting bugs before the last of you will start to believe there are some serious bugs in the new EPG?

Seconded.

Just had a quick scan of your old forum posts.....Who did you tell what? Sorry, I just don't see it.

Mate, there are a lot of idiots on these forums and sometimes their attitudes just make people want to retaliate. I think that's what's happened here.

Don't stoop to their level. It's not worth winding yourself up.

I do like it and love the mini-TV that no one else likes.

But then I did go straight from a really old standard Sky box (no +, no anything!) to a Sky+ HD with new EPG installed. So I don't know the old epg's to compare it with.

I'm more than happy with it.

The only small thing is that once it has lost the signal quality meter reading and a quick power reset sorted that in no time. That can be lived with until they do an update.

I now have tons of features that I could only dream of a month ago!

I think you're a bit of a gimp to be honest. I was drawn to this topic by the title and you obviously have too much time. You should use it to check your spelling and grammar instead of some daft post!

So you don't mind paying Sky £70.00 per month and then they give you an EPG that might have more glitches than the old EPG?

Sky must love customers like you.

Ive found nothing that I dont like about it, I think this thread says more about your obvious dislike for it, oh and £70 a month on Sky, get a life and go and spend the money on something more useful if you dont like it I certainly dont spend that sort of money on a TV service.
Pointless thread that should really be closed.

Didnt tell me any thing and for some one with a low post count a bit off NO MATTER when you signed up..... and quite frankly this thread is more usless than the 'I hate' or 'I love' or 'when will XXX box get the new EPG' threads.....

You love it great, you hate it tough - not like your getting a choice and as long as you can see the channels who cares ? I dont and I'm a techy in to my wizz bang GUIs and gizmos but I know when its just about thrashing a dead donkey.

I have to say, I am a bit surprised with all the negativity. But perhaps I am one of the lucky ones, with virtually no problems. In fact the old problem of the "unresponsive remote" has been solved for me.

Together with the on-screen graphics looking less clumsy and the ability to check synopsis and viewing the TV guide without leaving a program or recording; it was a long overdue essential upgrade.

Maybe I can get your sort of life, commenting on useless threads.

And if I want to spend £70 per month on a TV service for my family I will do, but it does not mean I should put up with the crap EPG from Sky!

What other provider? People are quite entitled to moan if they want to and they they don't have to ask your permission first!

My Thomson box was updated ages ago , I found that it has become more stable with player turned off , mini tv turned off , auto standby turned off. I still get the odd failed recording and last week had to reboot the box when I had "no signal" on all channels but all in all its quite reliable as a set top box.

I don't whine about my Sky box. Enjoy your fantasising about clubbing, when you're older you'll be allowed out.

I really like the new epg, however 1 bug with mine, because I'm on single feed the box takes a while to figure out my hard disk space. So the box needs to be on for at least an hour before I can record anything. I usually turn my box off at the wall when not in use thats why. Other than that I love it. Hearing the sound is nice when you leave the epg so you don't really miss anything interesting...

Now I find the sound continuing (with mini tv off) annoying, I agree 'some' of the new stuff in the EPG is better, but those could have been added to the old EPG one would have thought, the old one was easier to read as well
