Acorah & Jackson programme

Yes, I know should have known better, but I watched the Derek Acorah/Michael Jackson programme on Sky1.
In addition to feeling great sympathy for the way the emotionally vunerable (I'm being charitable here!) 'guests' were treated, I have always held 3 theories about Acorahs 'abilities'.
1. He's a genuine medium
2. He's insane and really believes he hears voices
3. He's a con-man.
After the programme I'm now sure that one of the above is correct and I know which one I believe!

He was talking to the ghosts on Doctor Who and they turned out to be Cybermen.
Why did he not know that?

You know I think I'd go for a combination of 2 & 3. You'd have to be a little deluded to tell such outright gobsmacking lies with a straight face.

Thought last night was, on the one hand a bit more "tasteful" than I expected, if tasteful is a word that can be used in the same topic as Derek's name.

On the other hand the assorted fans didn't seem to be chosen for their stability and it was extremely worrying to see the near breakdown of one or two of them.

Funniest part of the night was the near panic on June's face when David Gest started commenting on her lips and teeth, live tv at its best !!

Final and less neutral note. I watched this so can't claim any moral high ground but I do think that everybody at Sky that had anything to do with commissioning this disgraceful tawdry show should be sacked with an added option of involountary euthanasia - at least they could still keep in contact via Derek.

So no ghosty then? Well, well, well.

There are no ghosts, no aliens, no Loch Ness monster or Yeti, just folk who want to make money out of other folk.

As for Acorah, (and the likes of Evette Fielding and co) what a load of old tosh they do spout.

Clearly number 3. Only the con men are successful in that industry.

Damn. Missed it.

Was he chucking lamps at the heads of female members of the audience while calling them whores in a demonic voice at any stage of the proceedings?

That was his usual MO before Most Haunted cut their losses and binned him before the lunatic seriously injured someone, at worst -- or at best, got his lights punched out by a member of the irate crew.

Yes because they really didn't know he was a fake on Most Haunted.

He is a fake as he was found out on Most Haunted thats why he isn't on that program anymore.

Quote:
Acorah claims that he left the show (Most Haunted) to pursue other projects although the show's presenter, Yvette Fielding is reported to have said that he was asked to leave after Ciarán O'Keeffe, a parapsychologist for the show, fed him misinformation to which he later responded during an investigation, presenting himself as being possessed by the spirit of a fictional character.

Only a brain dead amoeba could possibly think he was genuine.

But when he started getting violent towards his co presenters by launching lamps at their heads, I reckon that was considered a demonic possession too far. Probably could no longer get insurance with that nutjob on the loose.

By the fact that it's airing on an entertainment channel rather than on any type of serious documentary channel, I think that answers the question

I'd go for no3.

I know some will raise their eyebrows when I say this...I have met DA a number of times.
He is a very charismatic entertainer who is truly lovely to his fans who fawn over him. But woe betide you criticise him and he can be very dark and aggressive.
I suppose the Gin goes a long way to helping him on that last score . He was sozzled sometimes on the live shows .
I'd better not say too much as I might get this thread deleted and I honestly don't want Digital spy to get into trouble.

The show last night was a farce and I felt so sorry for those 4 fans of MJ they were taken in hook line and sinker and their emotions played with for DA to further his dwindling career.

TBH If another medium had done this I would give them the benefit of the doubt but DA not a chance. He used cold reading and led them all the way through that seance.
It's those 4 fans I truly felt sorry for last night.

One of the super fans (guy called Darren) actually works for Sky TV. He was the one who received the specific piece of information from MJ about doing a tribute act at a racecourse.

Fancy that eh?

Edit: Just to add, I've just watched this show and if this kinda thing does not convince people that 'psychics' are not genuine and that people like Acorah are nothing more than con artists who prey on people's vulnerbilities, then nothing will.

It was a complete and utter sham.

However, there was one very moving bit when a super fan called Michael (and may I add, this guy was honoured and privileged to share the same name as his idol), asked Derek (who in this case was MJ) if he knew how much he loved him. MJ just couldn't help himself and channeled his energy through Derek to touch the little mite on his face and reply that he loves him too

I shit you not.

Such a beautiful moment

Just like Jacko's 'friend' Uri Gellar, Acorah is a charlatan.

It was a given that either Geller or David Gest would take part in this ludicrous charade - and on this occasion it was the decidedly creepy Gest.
