The 100 Best Movies of The Decade

just stumbled across The Times' top 100 movies of the decade. http://entertainment.timesonline.co....ffset=0&page=1

Can't say that many of my favourites made it on the list and the top 5, well

My favs out of the list
99. Battle Royale
95. Amores Perros
74. Pans Labyrinth
55. Chopper
38. Mullholland Drive
35. Y Tu Mamá También
30. Irreversible
20. Donnie Darko
15. Downfall
5. Team America: World Police
2. The Bourne Supremacy / The Bourne Ultimatum

There's plenty of mine that were not featured and I wouldn't exactly call that a Top 5.

Just looked at the list and have to say that it has now depressed me beyond belief. I never knew how much crap t6his decade had churned out. And then what many would class as the best film of the decade (The Dark Knight) does not even make the top 40. Sorry but the idiot that wrote that list for Time needs to undergo serious drug testing, as something tells me that they are or at the very least were smoking crack.

I can't really disagree with most of the movies on that list;the majority of them are way above average. However,I do disagree with Irreversible and The Dark Knight being ranked amongst the best of the decade. Both are not without merit but there are better movies IMO.

I'd say Martyrs was better than Irreversible,if we are going down that route (e.g French extreme cinema).I may get ridiculed for this, but I found Spider-Man 2 to be a stronger sequel/movie than T.D.K.

Didn't think Minority Report was all that, even though it was above average.Cache was certainly very good, but best of the decade? and where was Mystic River?

Saw would also receive a position in my book, but I understand their have been many movies that are better (this decade).

The Devil Wears Prada, don't know why this is on the list, same for the incredibly overrated Crash... same for Sideways, what rubbish that was.

Ones on the list I thought were fantastic:

Battle Royale
Sympathy for Lady Vengeance - why no Oldboy? that was vastly superior... or did I miss it? or I'm getting the dates wrong...

Amores Perros
House of Flying Daggers
The Royal Tenenbaums
The Orphanage - definitely deserves to be on the list
The Piano Teacher
Control
Talk To Her
Pan's Labyrinth
The Beat That My Heart Skipped
The Class
Persepolis
Memento
City of God
L' enfant
There Will Be Blood
Spirited Away
The Squid and the Whale
Être et Avoir
Shaun of the Dead
The Consequences of Love
Volver
The Constant Gardener
My Summer of Love - was nice to see this on the list
Little Miss Sunshine
The Dark Knight
Children of Men
The Incredibles
Lost in Translation
Mulholland Drive
Y Tu Mamá También
Finding Nemo
Being John Malkovich
Irreversible
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
Dancer in the Dark
28 Days Later
Man on Wire
Donnie Darko - I saw this when it first came out in America quite some time before Britain got it, thought for some reason it was a slasher film at the time, so bought it, was surprised... but a very good surprise.

Let The Right One In - America are remaking this right now, set in New Mexico...

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - I prefer Science of Sleep over it though.
Downfall
This Is England
The Lives of Others
Casino Royale
Hunger
Slumdog Millionaire
Grizzly Man
Hidden/Cache
The Bourne films

Wow... nice list apart from a few dodgy choices.

On the one hand, I like the fact they've had the pluck to put Bond and Bourne so high on the list. I think that often there's a bit too much unfair 'snobbery' against certain genres.

On the other, I think those particular films and a few others on the list have been seriously over-rated.

yes, that was an odd one. Whilst most of the list something of an elitist fare, the top 5 especially was quite an odd selection - Team America Grizzly ManBourne IdentityNo Country For Old Rope
I'm not saying any of these were bad films (with the exception of NoCountry....but that's just me), on the contrary but could they really be contenders for the best film of the decade?

Surprised The Counterfeiters didn't make their list, I thought it would have been right up their ally - it is a great film though, perhaps the person who compiled the list hadn't seen it.

Pan's Labyrinth only #74... I think that's what kids today call "epic fail".

I'm absolutely gobsmacked by that list. I'd say it makes my Top 10 Cretinous Lists of the Decade.

I think they accidentally printed a random list of films loved by Guardian columnists or something.

Talk To Her was on the list.

Happiness of the Katakuris - I find this remake to be one of his weaker films and wouldn't put it on a top 100 list at all.

goes to show how much attention I was paying to the list then. I though Happiness of the Katakuris was a pretty good film and so it'd make it to my list.
