Question about tracing people...
Is it possible to trace someone in any way with just a first name and a date of birth, as well as a rough location of they were born?
And also, is it possible to access court records to find details of a particular person? |

I was trying to access recent court records in the U.K. It is seems like this is impossible though. Nearly every site I have seen involves ancestry or America only.

Has anyone else got any advice on this?
I am desperately searching for someone who is alive and well and all I have is a first name and date of birth. I am clueless about where to start, short of hiring a private detective. |

So all you have is the following:
Bob, born 12th July 1970 in Forest gate Maternity Hospital. That is going to be very hard without a surname, some babies aren't given a first name until they leave hospital and would have been known as baby surname. I'm sure the Salvation Army help trace people, you could make enquiries. Do you have any idea of the persons parents first names? If so you could try old electoral registers in the local library. |

I would also like to find someone: my grandad whom I’ve never met. I know his full name and approximate location, but it’s a fairly common name in that area.
Any advice? Can it be done without paying big bucks? |
