Had Danielle not died...
Whilst I found the whigning and "boycotting EastEnders" annoying I did think how would things have happend had Danielle didin't die:
*No Ronnie and Jack getting back together *Joel probobaly wouldn't have been introduced *Archie probobaly wouldn't have had to leave the square *Stacey's bipolar probobaly wouldn't have happend * As she's a blond Mitchell, Danielle probobaly would have slept with Jack by now So in fact it was a good thing looking back we'd be left with Danielle well and alive and Ronnie as boring as hell (more so!) |

It would've meant, all in all, less Ronnie!

Probably not though. Had Danielle survived we'd probably have gotten months and months of her and Ronnie trying to reconcile with various difficulties getting in the way - and as said in the OP it would've been inevitable that Jack would've had his wicked way with her, seeing as he tends to go for the blonde, Mitchell variety (take cover Peggy!). Then her and Ronnie would've clashed in the Square culminating in Ronnie shoving an ice cream cone up Danielle's arse.

On the other hand, had she not died, we would not now be subjected to Ronnie sleeping with Jack, Ronnie sleeping with Ryan, Ronnie sleeping with Joel, Ronnie sleeping with Owen.

no i disagree, although i wasnt 1 of the people who went way OTT with the storyline, i do think she should have stayed in the show. archie still could of left and comeback, and i think he would have been even more scheming with danielle around, i also think their could have been endless danielle/ronnie stories to conjure up. this depressed ronnie is so boring now, imo it ruins the character always having her like this - theres nowhere for her character to go. plus the fact that the way in which danielle was killed was absolutly ridiculous, my 5 year old nephew could have thought up a better ending!

Indeed. Danielle's death hasn't exactly ushered in the promised blockbusting Mitchell storylines...
...or maybe they have. We all needed to lie down in a darkened room after the Archie Mitchell wasps nest bonanza didn't we? |

I think she should of stayed and it's probably the most furious I've ever been with such a storyline.
I watched for months and months screaming at the telly for Danielle to blurt it out to Ronnie and when she did, she died. Yes, we got a shock and it was a great episode but I was waiting to see Ronnie's reaction to how she'd treated Danielle since she came to the square and how guilty she'd feel that she helped Danielle make her mind up about getting rid of her baby. You can't really say it was good that they killed her off because of the storylines we've seen so far... None that have been that great or memorable either. I can think of months of storylines that could have been great for Danielle and Ronnie. The scenes could also include the likes of Jack and especially Archie. Thing is, we'll never know how good or bad EastEnders would have been with Danielle still alive. We have no comparison of how Danielle staying alive could have been great... so we can't really say how good it was for her to die because we'll never know how good it would of been if she'd been alive. |

yes she should have hung around i think its fair to say they just went with the shock factor and ruined near enough a years work of way overdrawn build up
and the end result from the story was ronnie would turn to every man she could see for "support" ![]() its quite an achievment unfortunatley i doubt its one that will be bragged about too much if at all

She would still be alive and Veronica could have become a nun

I miss her. Danielle was sweet. Now it's as though she never existed. For a family as close knit as the Mitchells supposedly are I don't understand why they seem to have forgotten so quickly what happened to one of their own. You would think Phil of all people (the Mitchell henchman) would have been eager to avenge her death. Archie manipulated her and robbed all of them of the opportunity to get to know her in her last months and he shares some culpability for her death. It's sad that the Mitchells seem to all suffer some form of amnesia about all of that. A genetic trait perhaps?

Santer had loads of storylines ready following the death. That's why they did it. Not for shock value and headlines. Definitely not that. We can all see the evidence in how good it's been since.

Gulftastic, I don't read this forum enough, I am not familiar with you so I cannot tell if you are being serious or not with that last sentence? All I can say is that the storyline has put Bill Murray, Harold Ramis 'Groundhog Day', into the shade. Eastenders is certainly doing it's usual 'thing', raising awareness of social issues, 'NA', nymphomaniacs anonymous and it's groups must be doing a roaring trade. (will have to apply for a job as a councillor- t in c) |

It was pure sarcasm, Hobbe.
Stacey aside, the show has been mince. Daniele's death was a slap in the face to fans, and Santer's rubbish about all the wonderful stories they had planned following it is the biggest pile of crap I've ever heard. Like the 'who's baby' rubbish, it was pure sensationalism. It's a good job Santer is leaving. Brookside showed what happens when all your storylines are written for shock value. |

Agree with you Gulf, totally. The return of Sonia Jackson fills me with terror and trepidation. It terrifies me even more than a 'Be more Pacific' joke and that is a mind numblingly horrifying experience.
