Strictly come dancing sound

Is it me, or is the sound really dodgy on this show on BBC HD.

It seems to fade in and out randomly during the whole programme, you turn it up to hear it one minute, then you're deafened the next.

I'm *fairly* sure the BBC One is OK and it's just an HD thing.

I would have thought it was down the the venue / OB-nature of the programme. Remember, the ballroom won't have the same sound technology as Studio 1.

Nah it was terrible. As in the presenter talking directly to the camera and the voice would vary from deathly silent to loud. BBC One was fine too.

It's happened before on BBC HD - never this bad though. Hopefully they'll sort it out properly.

It sounded as though the 5.1 channels had been 'crossed over' - I think that the integral sterio speakers on my TV were being fed with the 'front left' and 'rear left' channels rather than 'front left' and 'front right' ?

You have beaten me too this one, It was very poor to say the least.

I placed a post on this subject last week because the audio was poor then, but not as bad as last night.

I swapped from digital audio to anolouge but with no improvement, I dare not try BBC1 due to the boss woman moaning about me interupting her viewing.

I presumed it was due to them being in the Tower Ballroom, rather than the London Studios which are designed better for TV programmes.

The sound problems became aparent also when the judges were talking and Bruce or the couple tried to talk back as their comments were almost lost.

It obviously was not due to it being an 'OB' or the Tower Ballroom location, as BBC1 sound was OK.

It also happened to 'Antiques Roadshow' last Sunday, and it is only on the HD channel - on both occasions the broadcast on BBC1 was fine.

The sound was awful on HD last night.

It looks like the beeb might have got the audio channels mixed up somehow. It was going extremely quiet to extremely loud every couple of seconds.

On one occasion you could hear Bruce talking to somebody off screen when he obviously thought he was off mike. It could have been very embarrassing. So yes there were serious issues.

Have just received an email from BBC admitting that there was a problem with HD channel 5.1 sound and they won't do it again!
