Cart Machine and Playout System

A quick one for you all...

Does anybody on DS, know of any sites on the net, where you can get a free cart machine and playout system?

If anybody has any suggestions on the above, I'd be grateful if you could reply to this thread.

Cheers.

DRS 2006 offer a really good 30 slot cart system for free, only disadvantage is you have to put all the audio into their database first rather than just playing them straight out, no harm to try though, I use it for our pub quiz & it's rock solid.

radio playout s/w

You could look into these if you're up for Linux installations

http://www.rivendellaudio.org/

http://www.campware.org/en/camp/campcaster_news/ - don't think that has carts though. Neither does it offer sustain/automation, sadly

For just a cart system, look at Jazlershow?

For years I used Jazler Studio 1.5, before moving to Myriad. Although Jazler is not in the same league as Myriad, it is a doddle to use (passes the 5 minute idiot test from ages 14-75), and highly reliable.

The original request was for free cart and playout systems, Myriad does not fall into the free catagory.

Have you tried Sonicart?

It is a free "virtual cart machine" - I am pretty sure it works with XP despite what the download page says.

Jingle Pallette will play jingles ads and Mp3s with cross fade and top of the hour time signals. And it's free!

Also he stated Myriad was best as if it was fact. When in realty in the industry there are at least 2 or 3 systems that would be regarded as better.

Can you make it play out carts in sequence or do you have to fire each one individually?

If you use the sequencer it will play one after t'other. But if set to 'single' play, it stops the one that's playing and starts the next one when you click on it! It's just practice and playing about with it until you get the hang of it really!

I'm after something simiar but ZaraRadio is having none of it- when I try to add a playlist it comes up with an error message and shuts down.

However, the Jingle Palette is great and I've uninstalled Jazlershow in its favour!

Already mentioned but worth the extra kudos: mAirList can run purely as a Cartwall-only (as opposed to umpteen playlists+players). You can define how many buttons you want, the colours and pretty much all of the settings like time format, actions on start/stop etc.
