Shindlers List

I have jsut come back froma trip to poland with an organisation and thought it was appropiate after watching "The Pianoist" to watch "SHindlers list"
ALthough its a long film which really has put me off it was really good and i could understand what had happened to them and it was really sad and i even cried.
I am jewish and so were talking about my ansestors who were in the holocaust.

I know its an old film but hwat have you thought of it?

ALso, what is the music at the beggining when the shabbat candles are lit, i would like to use it with a slideshow of my pictures that im making?

A very harrowing and at the same time beautiful film, makes me cry every time.

I have never seen this film right through. I watched about an hour of it once on Sky and gave up and never watched it again. Im sure it is a brilliant moving film but I watch films to be entertained not to feel like jumping off Beachy Head after watching!

LOL Jon an old film? It was only made in 1993. The fact you think thats old makes me feel kind of old.

Anyway, Shindlers List is a terrific film. Extraordinarily powerful and in response to Jeff, surprisingly uplifting at the end. Yes its sad and horrific, but through the actions of Shindler, the humanity and compassion of human beings shines through, even as we see mans penchant for evil and brutality as well. So I'd say to Jeff, give it another go - You'll be surprised how you feel at the end.

I agree - it was a very hard film to watch, but at the end, you come out feeling uplifted.

And I'm another one who's shocked at someone saying it's old! I saw it in the cinema when it came out, and it feels very recent.

I would guess the OP is a young chap? May even have been born after 1993? In which case, I guess 1993 does seem kind of old!

iamme, my mother felt like that. For many years she avoided watching Shindlers List, but I brought it for her one year and she ended up watching it and found it a really rewarding experiance. Do give it a go. Yes its brutal, perhaps in places even unberable, but its a terrific piece of filmaking and you'll end up in tears but also feeling weirdly uplifted at the same time.

I would guess that because Schindler's List is made (for the most part) in black & white, it would make it seem older than it actually is.

I can remember when I first saw The Elephant Man on VHS and was surprised to learn at the time that it had only been made three years previously. I'd thought it was much older, simply because I only associated black & white films with the 'old classics' shown on TV.

Please at least consider some of the IMDb's Top 250.

You really don't know what you're missing!

You're really missing out, most movies made after 2000 are lousy.
The 80s and 90s were the best years IMO.
Regarding the age of Schindlers list-I was working at a multiplex at the time, and people were often moved to tears when leaving the auditorium.
It seems only a couple of years ago, its nearly SIXTEEN!!!
*Anyone reading this who worked at Warrington UCI 1993 -1995 Private Message me-would love to hear from you Ta!
