Humax have now stated that the updates will "filter[] out into the public domain from 10th November onwards".

The listed changes are:

• Support for BBC iPlayer service (service availability to be confirmed by freesat)

• Auto Delete function included

• Ability to Delete Recorded Programmes from the Media List while recording or playing back.

• RGB output available on HD content (Live TV and Recordings)

• Resolved ITV HD Schedules disappearing after a channel scan

• Freesat schedules no longer removed after a Manual Tune.

• Resolved issue with Subtitles appearing when use Time Shift Recording.

• Resolved issues playing back encrypted HD content from an external device.

• Diagnostic Menu now displays the signal levels for both tuners correctly.

• NEW icon now appears in the Media List (Simple view) on Folders with new recordings.

• Resolved issues with Series schedules failing to record.

• EPG Genre screen now appears in two columns

• Resolved Lip-Sync issue resetting after a power cycle.

• Resolved incorrect character appearing on Postcode in the Diagnostic menu.

• Resolved lockup issue when recordings 2 TV channels and changing to a Radio channel.

• Resolved intermittent Lip-sync issue when accessing ITV-HD

• Changes made to some on screen messages regarding conflicts

That's talking about version 1.03, the current one. The expected one is (presumably) 1.04.

What is going to happen to all those people with the old loader 7.51 on single cables like me that can’t do those updates? Wasn’t it said that the 1.03 software was to make it possible to do the Iplayer update, This update!
I E-mailed support again about this update to the loader on Thursday as its over a month since the last batch of ignored e-mails and 2 months since I was told it would be on there web site in a week and got a reply but only to say we will look into it

Bob_cat has already responded to this thread but has chosen not to elucidate.

Humax have probably chosen that rather weird terminology so that if nothing happens around the tenth they can hold up their hands and say they never said it would.

It's possible to update the firmware with 7.51 and only one cable.

There is two ways but the safest is to temporarily remove the link cable and connect an A-B lnb switch so that the single cable can be routed to either input.

Wnen the OTA is available with the cable switched to tuner 1 in start the auto update and when it finds the update switch the cable to tuner 2 in.

The alternative but more risky option is to swap the cable with the hdr on.

I think it means that you might not get the whole deal at once. eg BBC1 implementation might be delayed so you get the update in two or more parts

What do you mean by 'the whole deal'?

A lot of us are just interested in when the PVR functions will be made to work properly so the date of interest is the date at which the OTA update will take place.

The 'filter out' verbiage really doesn't mean anything.

It could mean that Humax are sending one person a USB stick and crossing their fingers that said person puts the file on the 'net.

People get annoyed when I say that Humax are 'unprofessional' but even when they do eventually say somethings it's all but unintelligible.

I went to great lengths speaking to humax support making shour this box would work on a single feed which is doesn't if you got a early box at least only part works ( No updates)

It's not a sales pitch merely an indication of what's required. If you are not interested in how to update your hdr may be others are. Some people can be so rude, why do we bother to try and help

But we here do know those thing but what about those that do not come here, i just talked one of those thought the swapping cable trick over the phone who is waiting for Iplayer as i do not know what the problems 1.03 was overcoming with that update

The single cable operation is a bonus feature that AFAIK no other twin tuner sat pvr (including Sky) can emulate. It's the loader version that determins whether you can upgarde on one cable 7.51 you can't (other than the workaround) 7.52 you can. The upgrade to V03 was according to humax to try and get everybody up to v03 (V02 was the last OTA update), apart from very minor cosmetic differences v03 is pretty much the same as v02. It sounds as if you have an early stb and still have v01 firmware (which means you can already delete while recording, at your own risk ). Upgrading the loader is a much more risky business especially OTA as there is risk of bricking the stb hence I imagine the delay from Humax.

Have you any mates with Sky+ or freesat+ and twin cables who will let you borrow their lnb connections for a short period once the OTA for v04 is running ?

Makes sense not being too committal until it is actually available.

As for the single cable OTA issues, we have a fix, but it isn't trivial because updating the boot-loader is never trivial (certainly it is never done over the air). I am sure once the update is available customer services will be able to support people.

My box came with loaded 7.51 and software v1.02 as to “bonus” the box is meant to do automatic updates or manually as page GB70 of user guide and operates on 1 feed with link from LNB1 out to LNB2 I got it in black and white in manual
The fact that “upgrade on one cable 7.51 you can't (other than the workaround)” is not what the manual says however thanks for your warning RE deleting files but I already done swapping trick

As to friends with Sky+ my mates are on single cable too one of which I just updated to version 1.03 and the other is in 200+ miles away and I am not even saying anything about the updates I spend enough time sorting his pc problem over phone AVG update most of yesaday afternoon *Screams* everyone else I know is on virgin cable as most are in this neck of the woods due to channel interferes from across the channel I never had a problem on digital

A bit of an over-reaction, I think Graham. Your meaning wasn't obvious to me either. I'm certainly using my HDR and think, on the whole, that it's excellent, and I wouldn't be without it. But I do think Humax have handled this upgrade badly, including being far from clear at this late stage about when the upgrade will be available to 'ordinary' (as distinct from beta tester) users. And I don't think you can really say people were wrong about the upgrade not appearing in November until it actually appears, can you?

Actually, Graham, doubting that something will happen isn't being wrong. It's just being doubtful. I was very hopeful when I read the info which is why I started this thread. However, when a Humax bod came on the thread and failed to make any clarification about the odd wording I began to smell a rat.

Remember we haven't got the upgrade yet and this is the only comment from a Humax person here: "Makes sense not being too committal until it is actually available."

Doesn't exactly inspire confidence, does it?
