Anita Anand. Why does she have to laugh so much?

Radio 5 in the evenings used to be such fun with Peter Allen. Now it is a right turn off. Anita laugha nasal minute Anand and her merry oh we are so much fun at every sentence makes me furious. Why does the BBc insist on their female presenters being Christine Bleakley type of graduates from the university of mindless mirth. is it away to tell us...look our programmes are such fun.....even the presenters cant stop laughing. Arrrghhh.

Also very quick-witted and bright. All in all one of my favourite presenters.

She has an abnormal brain that is wired wrongly so Anita laughs at the wrong time. As when there is a bad news story or Peter attempts a joke.

She should be taken away......................................... and given a show on BBC1

I quite like the show, she can be a pain but I love it when Peter's in one of his moods and has to interview an arse!

Can't see (or rather hear- since never seen her) the appeal. Sooo over-rated!

Your theory could be correct, though I think Gabby is an excellent broadcaster. I am pleased she moves to weekdays from January

Maybe being pregnant has affected her sense of humour.

I like the boots she wears on the Daily Politics Show.

I too dislike those female presenters who feel they have to giggle at their co hosts "jokes" .

Rachel is allright but that voice reminds me so much of Scooby Doo I cant take her seriously and Anita as my Yidasha mamma allready.

The worst example is my local BBC station beakfast show co-host who cackles uproariously at every utterance of the lead blokes script very irritating

The newsreader on BBC WM in the mornings laughs manically at anything the breakfast show presenter utters - whether it is humorous, tedious or just banal.

Almost all of the 5live female presenters are better than the awful Ms Anand. She has dumbed down every programme she has been on.

I understand that some may find her sexy, but feel that no-one can honestly stand up for the quality of her journalism.
She is even worse on the Daily Politics show,

I really wanted to hate Anita when she replaced Jane - nobody could replace Jane as Allen's sidekick - but to be fair to her, she has done an excellent job and has made the position her own. She's intelligent, quick witted, has a sexy voice and plays off Allen really well.

It will be interesting to see who they get in to cover her maternity leave - assuming she comes back.

I think Aasmah Mir will get that gig.

I hope that Aasmah Mir does get the job. She is miles better than Anita. It is only a shame that because of maternity leave legislation the change cannot be permanent.

I'm pleased you qualified that comment with almost, because I suspect a fair few DS-ers might nominate Victoria Derbyshire as being worse!

That's a bit mean-spirited. Assuming she's an employee (rather than on a fixed contract) then maternity legislation would mean that the BBC couldn't discriminate against her because she had a baby; in other words, it can't be used as an excuse to fire her. Surely that's entirely correct in a civilised society.
