Could Cowell refuse to give The Twins a "recording contract" if they win
There must be something contractually that allows him to opt out.
The winners single is usually a ballad so they won't be able to manage that. It might just be a "Mr Blobby" type record then they would be released and sent into some type of kids tv career. |

I would imagine he would give them a "fun" christmas release and an album then drop them like hot cakes if it doesnt sell well.
He can't refuse if they win fair and square, but its up to him how much he promotes them after the initial furore calms down. I would imagine they would quietly disappear within a couple of months. Thats why, as someone who likes the twins, I wish they would be voted off now, so they can negotiate themselves a presenting contract whilst the iron is hot. True John and Edward fans should agree with me

And why exactly would he want to not give them a contract? He wants them to win and they'll make him a bit of money - I so wish people would stop thinking that Simon doesn't want the twins to win

I remember this question being asked another year. I can't remember when it was though and who the contestant was that it was being asked about but I remember a few people with some knowledge saying it is in the contract they sign at the start that if he refused to sign the winner he would be just as much in breach of contract as they would be if they refused to sign.

I agree with the poster above who said it might be better for the twins if they don't win so they can sign up to do something they're better suited for (e.g. TV) as soon as their X-Factor obligations are done with. |

Why would he? The kiddies would love it and it would make Cowell a mint. I doubt he'd give them a second abum though. Or anything more than a one hit wonder type Christmas single.

Any half decent vocal coach could get John and Edward singing well. Unfortunately, the one the show uses, her techniques are outdated and too time consuming to be of any use to anyone who appears on the show.
At the end of the day, all singing is is just communicating emotionally at pitch and anyone can be taught to do that - including the supposed tone deaf! With people who have been labelled as tone-deaf, the trick is to get them to hear the note you want them to sing in their head before reproducing it. If John and Edward win this year's X Factor, there's no reason why they couldn't be taught to sing properly and on pitch, however, the producers actually prefer them the way they are as they're currently loving all the media coverage the twins are getting! |

I even started to wonder if there'd be benefits to his label if they did win, and this was all some weird reserve psychology. Rather than another similar artist, who requires extensive production costs and promotion, they could whizz out an album quickly, lower cost = potentially greater return for a short while. They could also do well in Europe in a kinda Aqua-esque way. Oh and I doubt Simon would renege from doing an album at all... if the public vote for them, they get what they want (even if they don't put a lot of money or effort into it). |

Since he's cleverly orchestrated their rise to popularity from before their audition, I'd say a contract for them is a given.

Simon is under contract to give the winner a recording contract. He must give the winner a contract even if his favourite act (Danyl), doesnt win!

Personally win or lose the Twins are probably going to make more money than any of the other acts. There is no Leona or Alexandra this year - but we may just get a replacement for Sam and Mark.

I said that a while ago. John and Edward could do for ITV what Sam and Mark do for the BBC - they are funny, likeable, and aren't too big for their boots. They can have a laugh too, so I think (although I love them and want them in the final!) if they came first, it wouldn't be a good idea.

I would imagine that they would carry on doing small gigs perhaps. ![]() I think that a presentation contract would be fantastic. Hey maybe they can present Xfactor next year.

Surely he could only do that if he gave the voters their money back, too? And I'm sure even people who don't/can't vote would be pretty annoyed too.
