I've lost my ring :-(
I wear a ring which belonged to my mother (she put it down one day about three years and never got it back!) and I absolutely adore it - it's always been a little loose but it's never fallen off, it's moved around my finger so that the stone has sometimes ended up in my palm.
I rarely take it off but when I do it's always a conscious action. Yesterday, I was on the phone to a friend...(I know this is going to sound absolutely ridiculous and quite disgusting too!....) and was going to the toilet at the same time...(it's okay, the friend knew about this!), once I had finished and left the bathroom I instinctively looked at my finger, as it felt odd, to find the ring gone...I don't remember taking it off, I'm sure if I had looking at my finger wouldn't have been so instinctive.... I reckon it slipped off with the toilet paper (I'm sure you understand what I'm saying here!!!) and was flushed away... :-( I've looked absolutely everywhere... The ring had an opal stone and was 'crown' like with small diamonds around it - would it be flushable?! |

I don't know about whether it would flush or float (and I don't think they did precious jewellery in those tests on Brainiac), but unfortunately if it has gone down the pan, it won't be the same again. Opals are porous, or soluble, or something, and if you get them wet, they can & will start to dissolve.
Sorry, and I hope your ring turns up somewhere else. |

Serves you right for stealing it from your mum.

It would be flushable if it was wrapped in the toilet paper. It certainly wouldn't float, but depending on how fierce the toilet flush was, it might have been left in the toilet. If it WAS flushed, I'm afraid it's gone for good.

I don't think something like that would flush, to be honest.
Although I also thought it sounded like you'd stolen it from your mum... |

This sounds feasible, but I'm not quite 'getting' how toilet tissue could have pulled off the ring (im thinking to how I, well... wipe), and it doesn't involve anything with enough force, movement or covering of fingers, that would take a ring of my finger so I'm a bit confused? OP, Off topic, what happened re you thinking you were pregnant, I had a look and there was never any update? |
