Trying to like Olly but not working for me

He seems a nice regular bloke.

However his cheesy routines, dad dancing, Primark suits just don't seem to work for me.

He is very average vocally, with dated tunes, just don't see where he goes after this to be honest.

It'a all a matter of taste. I like him more and more
I understand your point though, I think Lloyd is adorable and would love to be a fan but he just isn't good enough, at least yet.

I do agree.

I think he puts on good performances, but it is mainly down to the whole circus that is on-stage with him to back him up.
He got completely lost in yesterday's show, and what on earth were those dance moves about?

He doesn't have a strong voice and doesn't seem like a star to me. I call him Mr Average.

What is it you like, I don't think he seems hot for the girls to like.

He just seems like a bloke who has gone out for a few drinks after work and stayed out for the night and wandered into the X-Factor studio.

I think Olly is great and my prediction to win (although I'm hoping Danyl or Lucie).

I totally agree with the dated tunes though and think Simon is getting it spectacularly wrong for him. Twist and Shout was ridiculous - as was all of the song choices last night apart from Jamie's.

You could say the same about Robbie Williams.

I think it's just a wee cheeky spark that some people find appealing, others don't.

Vocally he aint a class act, but it's about more than technical ability.

I think Olly is great. He's one that I've come to like over the course of the shows and he's consistently good. He's done a great job with each of the songs he's sung. He comes across as a nice guy and gets a very good reaction from the studio audience every week - especially last night.

It is all down to personal taste and no doubt Olly is a crowd pleaser on the show.

The main problem lies in whatever could he do as a recording artist? Singing cheesy songs on a live show is fine, but when it comes to selling an album that has to be listened to with no visuals of Olly wouldn't work, not for me anyway.

I've no doubt that quite a high percentage of his votes are coming from viewers based on him on the show. Most of them are loving him on there but wouldn't dream of going out and buying music. This seems to be what happens every year.

Taking the show on entertainment value for a Saturday night viewing audience is great in that context. The reality is that, come next year around April, interest will begin to wane in all of the performers unless they have that extra something that turns them into a viable performer with the potential to develop a career.

I really can't see Olly being able to sustain his success.

Oh I'm past being influenced by "hot" in a singer (or at least at Olly's tneder age). I think he has a good voice and I loved his dancing last night. The whole thing cheered me up. J&E make me smile too but I actually like Olly's voice

I think he's probably the most well rounded of the bunch. I don't think he's the most talented, in fact I think he's one of the weakest, but I think right now he's the only 'winner'. Firstly, he's the only one where you can actually see the direction he would take as an artist. I guess for Lucie that is starting to emerge now as well, but because it happened mid-competition it sort of looks like its a compromise, rather than what she actually wants. He's presented as having a 'down to earth' and cheeky personality, which people seem to love (I actually think he comes across a lot more arrogant than Danyl though.) He also seems to appeal to both males and females, different age groups etc. he's not a dreadful singer and, apparently, can perform. Being good looking obviously doesn't hinder him either. I can see why people would like him.

I just think he's cheesy.

In the auditions Olly was my number One! and I would have signed him there and then for any record company! but now, No! he has lost all his soul, last night it looked more like the standard you could see every week from good reliable red coats at Butlins! nothing more.

I think some of his performances have been good, he's moving about, dancing, and trying to put on a show. He's been giving some toe tapping, well known songs which I think have helped him a lot in the popularity stakes. I find him 'listenable', which I can't say the same for Danyl, I'm afraid.

I'm finding him performance style over vocal substance atm. I think Louis and Dannii were on the money last night. Louis said if it was a popularity contest only Olly would win, Dannii commented on him stuck in time warp. Simon is being very cute giving him songs that he can coast in and dont require challenging vocals.

I really like Olly, he's grown on me so much! His performances of the last two weeks have both been the stand outs of the night.

Everything about Olly is a bit "average" for me. I suppose he's a decent performer and a nice guy but his singing voice is nothing special. Unfortunately, it's looking like he's going to win.

I think he's a bit icky. The ripped shirt of the last episode it's still imprinted in my mind. And no that's not a good thing. But he looks the most comfortable on stage, he sings well and we do not die of boredom watching him, like I do with Lloyd(apalling) and Joe for example. Overall he's growing on me.

I still am not sure about Olly giving a wow peformance he certainly won't if he's given the same type of songs each week, wow peformance generally needs to be a more slower song. That imo could be his downfall where someone like Joe, Lucie or Danyl could overtake him

Don't do him! You'll regret it in the morning!!

I fervently believe that Simon Cowell is the only person who will EVER use the name "Olly Murs" followed by the words "international pop star" in a sentence. Honestly.

I think he's good, the best of the Over 25s, but I don't think he should win, mainly because I think his 'success' would be short lived, Leon Jackson style. I much prefer Joe or one of the girls tbh
