Does Chris (Kent's Favourite Son) have the support of the county behind him?

I was just wondering if Chris (Kent's Favourite Son) has the support of the county behind him.

I know in Scotland whenever we have one of our acts in a show like this (eg BB,XF or IACGMOOH) we get really behind them.

Does anyone from Kent know if there is a campaign under way in the county to get Chris (Kent's Favourite Son) all the way to the SCD final

Well, I live in Kent and I want Ali and Brian to win, although I also like Chris & Ola and Jade & Ian, and while I'm thinking about it I have a bit of a soft spot for Natalie & Vincent and Laila & Anton (also a Kent boy by the way).

Are people really so stupid that they vote for a contestant just because of where they come from? Sounds a bit racist to me as a foreign contestant could never win if that was the case. It's also a bit like my old Mum's crazy idea that footballers should only be allowed to play for a team within 5 miles of their birth place (there's Arsenal relegated then ...)

I suppose if Chris was local to my town in Kent and massively involved in the local community I might have a personal reason for supporting him above the others but, as it is, my support will always be based on who entertains me.

To suggest that people vote on locality is as crazy as somebody starting a message board campaign to vote for some hard faced bitchy tart for Big Brother winner just because she happened to be from Scotland and surely nobody would be THAT thick would they?!!!

Yes, very near Bromley. I went to school there (same time as Chris) and have worked there as well as appearing on stage at the local theatre. I had never heard of Chris before this year's Strictly so I guess he isn't Mr Local Community worker. But more importantly, he isn't the dancer who entertains me most in the competition so would not get my vote.

I live in Kent. I wouldn't be disapointed to see Chris&Ola win. They've put just as much time and effort into their routines, and they have a great partnership. However, I think the semi final will be Jade&Ian, Ali&Brian and Ricky&Natalie

Bhoy's back.....wondered where you were

I'm not from his county, but he's my 3rd favourite behind Natalie and Jade so would be very happy to see him go to the final

Was a bit disappointed with that rather silly paso last night though

I'm from Kent, and I am supporting Chris, but not because he's from Kent, in fact I didn't even realise he was until I saw this thread. I don't really tend to base who I support on where they're from...

he shouldn't do cos he is a prize kn*b, but he ticks all the boxes of middle England. He reminds me of that old Fast Show character Colin Hunt - always wanting to be in the limelight.
It would appear Strictly voters aren't as discerning as me and they have strangely taken this tool to the bosom of their heart.
I thought Tom Chambers was a smug Kent boy, and Hollins is like a caricature of Chambers. Beeb fans are a very English set

If you go down the rocky road of only supporting your local 'star' you end up with winners of the calibre of Leon Jackson and that, I'm sure you'd agree, would be an absolute travesty.

While I would not go as far as to call him a prize kn*b I love your post just the same.

I am also from kent and had no idea Chris was until I read this thread. I am not a supporter of Chris as there are better dancers and I will not be changing my view just because he is a "local".

I live just the other side of the Kent border, which puts me in a difficult position because I don't know if I should vote for Chris because in terms of distance he might be the closest celeb to me, or vote for A N Other to get Chris out because there might be some underlying rivalry between our neighbouring counties.

Do you think the prevalence of local support is what put Peter Schmeichel out so early in series 4?

Well I'm from Kent too - but that doesn't influence who I vote for (I didn't know Chris was from the County either as I'm not such an anorak as to go and check out the contestant's wiki page or CV before deciding whether or not to support them)

As it happens - Chris & Ola (married to a boy from Kent BTW) are my favourite couple and they will get my votes once we get nearer to the final - but they get my support because I love the partnership and they entertain me, not because of where they are from!

Martina Hingis - Swiss - voted out first.
Yes, I doubt a foreigner could win.
I live in Kent and I am not voting for Chris and Ola even though I enjoy watching their dances (and their chemistry - Olachops, love it!).

OMG! Aha ahahahaha I thought I was the only one. Colin Hunt OMG, I think I got a stitch from laughing. Thank god I am not alone.

I do not hark from Kent but if I did I would rather take my eye out with a blunt spoon than support Chris..............
