Direct Debit and Bank Charges - Advice

Hi folks, heres a little dilema my partner has! her mobile operator usually sends a text or a email telling her what date her bill will be taken from her bank account each month! this month it didnt! was waiting on the mail or the text to come through! neither did? due to this she now has bank charges as it came off before her pay went in! now she was overdrawn! any views appreciated!

can she claim the bank charges back from the mobile operator?

it really all depends on the small print. the fact that the direct debit was taken before her pay went in will only be their fault if they either took the money before they should have, or they guarantee to notify by text or email in advance of the money being taken rather than it just being a courtesy.

when you say text or email i'm thinking why two possible means? systems are normally set up to do something the same way each time.

So what would your partner have done if she had received a text or email? Surely she wouldn't have been able to get paid any earlier and so she'd still have gone overdrawn?

Doesn't the direct debit come out pretty much the same day each month anyway, though obviously weekends or public holidays might affect it a little?
