I think a big problem is experience. In the old days bands toured little pubs and clubs learning the craft. These days they're thrown on a stage in front of millions and they're superstars. When they go on tour their stage presence is normally dreadful and I've read many Xfactor type stars have terrible stage fright because quite simply they aren't used to it.

I did read somewhere that the problem with licensing music venues and pubs is being resolved as they are allowing live music where there is less than 100 people. It's a start anyway.

They don't really need to sing a note, just stick them in a studio and let the sound engineers do all the hard work, then just mime on stage.

Rod Stewart last night showed the difference between starting in pubs, clubs and the poor x factor lot being thrown to the lions on a tv show.
