Just goes to show, that while he was ill he still done casualty, and was in theatre. He's a true professional, and very determined and dedicated.
My thoughts are with Simon and Susan.

Who does he think he is to say such a thing to any patient?

In my experience, any half decent consultant would never ever commit to such a statement because quite simply he/she has no idea.

Simon is a true gentleman and such a talented actor. I've always liked his characters, especially Dr Harry Harper in Casualty.
All my thoughts are with him and his family in these difficult times...
I hope he can pull through it though.
