Pictures and sound quality
I have a Sky HD box which i purchased 2nd hand, which i connected to a standard wide screen TV (not flatscreen)
I was watching the football today on normal itv and swiched over to itv HD obviously it wasn't in HD on my standard tv but it did appear to be a better picture and better sound/ What are standards for this. |

ITVHD is broadcast at 1440*1080 using the H.264 codec running at around 10.7mbps, this is vastly superior to the resolution and bitrate of the SD versions of ITV1 so the SKY+HD has a better source to convert to RGB scart and that benefit is shown as a better picture on your telly.
SKY started producing footy in HD a year before they launched HD but it was HD converted to SD on their sports channels, many at the time noticed a better quality image as the original source was better despite being on a SD channel. |
