Should Simon be reported to Offcom?

The show is billed as a talent show, Simon has repeatedly stated this fact for the benefit of the public and insisted it is not a 'popularity' show.

On two consecutive weeks he has comitted himself to judging the artists (immediately prior to the sing off taking place may I add) on the quality of the sing off performance and on both weeks he has openly abrogated that responsibilty resulting, on both occasion, the act with the better singing peformance in the sing off being eliminated.

The general public vote, in my opinion, in the belief that primarily the sing off is there so that (professional) judges honestly perform their duty and choose the act that sings best in the sing off and only when such decision becomes impossible, is the public vote used as a tie breaker.

Last week and this week it is clear, by Mr. Cowell's own admission, he would not stcik to the rules which he has openly declared and by which voters are led to believe are playing this gameshow by casting their telephone votes.

It seems to me that as things stand at the very least, there is no purpose in having a sing off and that Mr Cowell's action over the last two weeks is tantamount to deceipt and manipulation not only of the those who take the trouble of voting but is grossly unfair to the aspiring artist!

Just felt I had express this thought and get it off my chest.

What will off com say? The public voted, not enough voted for Lucie she was in the bottom two. The Judges voted it was two/two. Lucie got the least votes. Off com will just laugh.

How can you report someone for letting the public make a decision on something they erm make the decision on?

Simon said he wanted to see more of the boys, that he felt Lucie had gone as far as she could and let the public vote decide. I feel sorry for anyone who works for OFCOM, they must dread going to work when there's a reality show in full flight.

nope 100% no way.

People if truly angry either switch off or just dont vote.

Ofcom would laugh this off just like the BS of big brother created.

Yes, complain. I'm sure the lovely people at OFFCOM could do with someone to laugh at on a Monday morning in November.

The irony here is that Simon well and truly had his professional A&R hat on when making this decision. If Jedward and Lucie released a record at Xmas who do you think would sell most? The clue is in the title of the programme - it's called the X Factor not "Britains best Singer".

I'm furious at Simons decison tonight but this does not warrent a complain because technically he did not break any rules. He made a decision.

Just consider this... (yes, it's all fantasy)

What if Simon knew the result? I have no evidence to show he has or hasn't. However, if he did; being the owner of the show, surely it could possibly be a huge stunt to create more of a media frenzy?

I just feel sorry for the girl going out because Simon bottled it.

Again, he's risking the show's popularity for two people who by definition are not fit for the show and are just a comedy act.

It's just funny how he reacted when he had the oppertunity to knock them out.

Bah, I hope everyone starts to lose interest in reality TV.

Why should he be reported to Offcom? What he's doing isn't nice but there's nothing illegal about it. It's only a TV programme for goodness sake!

What actually complain because the show is being audience driven for a change?

You are joking I take it, don't embarrass yourself by notifying OfCom.
