What do you remember watching as a child?

What programmes do you remember watching as a child? Did you rush home from school specially to watch your favourite programme? Or was it on a Saturday morning?

Warning!! this thread could seriously reveal your true age

I loved the Herb Garden and Tales of the Riverbank. In fact I've had hamsters as pets ever since then.

Rainbow.

If they piped that into global TV stations, terrorists would put down their bombs, MPs would work for free and NASA would get a $1 trillion stimus to allow mankind to explore space, together.

It IS the solution to the world's ills.

After all, who can resist Zippy's "I, I, I want to bake a cake, Geoffry."

I remember watching Sooty sitting on my yellow pooty that was kept under the curtain in the kitchen. Not sure how many episode I had to watch before I managed to use said potty.

Also remember play school, and the Magic roundabout.

Then from school it was Wombles, blue peter, Swap Shop,

We had our first TV for the coronation in 1953 I remember the potters wheel and the 'amnesty' at teatime when the station shut down to give mums a chance to get the children to bed.
In our little village, electricity was made by the man at the garage(!) and one day he piped too much too quickly and our TV started smoking

All the 'Watch With Mother' shows mentioned above such as The Woodentops and Tales of the Riverbank , along with the original 'Andy Pandy' and 'Bill & Ben' where you could see the puppet strings which I preferred to the new modern computer generated imaging. I can always remember waiting in anticipation for the continuity announcer David Hamilton to introduce the latest 'Batman' episode . Daktari , Skippy , 'Tarzan' with Ron Ely , 'Bonanza' 'Jackanory' were all popular in our house .

Sapphire and Steel

Hong Kong Phooey

Grange Hill

Dallas (sorry)

The above are what I wanted to watch...I also had to endure sitting through some awful stuff courtesy of my parents

We also never had the tv on during the day until I got home from school...or very rarely anyway.

Button moon has to be an early memory along with POB (C4 early days) Teens programming like Century falls (BBC) was gripping stuff and lots of Aussie stuff like Betty's bunch, round the twist and the girl from tomorrow (I think that's it's name) were all faves in or house.
