Would the X Factor be better without the judges competing against each other?

Personally I much prefer Britain's Got Talent to the X Factor. The reason being that I cannot stand the concept of each judge on the X Factor owning three acts and competing against each other to see who wins.

In my opinion this detracts the show from being a talent competition and turns it into being much more about the judges egos as they try various underhand tricks to get one over on each other to make sure 'their' acts stay in.

The judges do not always give honest opinions about performances and always favour their own acts, whereas to me the show should be much more about who performed best overall on the night, regardless of who their mentor is. The sing off's are a farce because regardless of who performs better, a judge will always vote for their act to stay in if they are in the bottom two.

I am sure Jedward would not have progressed as far if it was not for this. Louis is very passionate about backing these guys, but is this because he truly believes that they deserve to win the competition or simply because they are his last act and he wants to win?

Louis loves boy bands...he is responsible for the greatest boyband of all time (Westlife) so it's no wonder he sees the potential in Jedward...no matter what category he got he would've fully supported them...

Louis Walsh is responsible for Westlife, but no way are they the greatest boyband of all time (TT have more of a case for being greatest).

The judges competing thing is a farce, I mean what are they competing for why would they be bothered.

I don't believe that once the Sunday show is over Cowell thinks for one second about Jamie, Olly or Danyl.

Nah, the competition between the judges is half the fun. It's never been about talent.

None of them have been 'boys' for quite some time, and a band play instruments. Does anyone know what Jason, Howard, Kian or Nicky actually do? At least Barlow writes his own songs I suppose, no matter how poor they may be. But neither will ever hold a candle to The Temptations, The Miracles, Four Tops, The Stylistics, The Isley Brothers, The Four Seasons, The Jackson 5 ...

it would be better if the record contract and the ratings of the show and the profits from it were not represented on the judging panel. Simon has to go as a judge and mentor. 4 judges ought to be enough to avoid tactical decisions and allow the judges still to compete but not to achieve an outcome decided by someone before the series even starts
