What is the best approach to teaching validation to a year 9 class?

Have you tried the forums on www.tes.co.uk? They might be able to help you on there. Or ask you mentor for help, that's what they are there for? Don't feel like you're swamping on your own, it's a tough year and you'll get there in the end! Good luck!

You really should harrass all you can, they're there to help you. If you really don't want to ask them, you could try asking some of the other teachers in your department for advice, or maybe asking your University tutor assigned to you for advice, even try the others on your course. And also remember that everyone feels swamped when they first start teaching, and all the others on your course/students in your school feel that way too. As did every single teacher in your school when they first had to teach year 9!!

I really would try the tes forums though, lots of teachers on there willing to help PGCE students out.

Ill second that, go and annoy your mentor. That is what he/she is there for.

Your bound to be a bit stressed, you are only a few weeks in!

Wait till you graduate then find you cant get a job because you dont have any experience!

NOBODY, I repeat, NOBODY, feels calm when they have to teach year 9 for some of the first times in their career.

The first time I taught year 9, even though my lesson was planned "fine" (as in, I did the research and was prepared), I had to sit in the technician's room with a glass of juice and a chocolate bar afterwards

Blimey I remember the first time I had to teach year 9 - nightmare! Must be something about year 9 students.

But as second the advice to bug your mentor. That's what they are there for!
