You don't, really. In the past one could contact Forum Support and request a name change, but apparently that hasn't been possible for some time, allegedly for technical reasons.

Some have suggested that the way to do it is to de-register from DS and then to register under a new name, but I gather DS isn't keen on that approach either. Still, it seems to be the only way to change your name at the moment.

PS: This is what was said back in February:

Hi,

Right now we're extremely limited with regards to username changes. Because of the size of the forum database, I believe changing usernames puts a huge amount of strain on the server. The forum software developers are aware of the issue and, last I heard, a fix was being worked on but this is obviously something we aren't able to fix ourselves.

If there is an actual REASON you need a name change (as opposed to 'just fancy a change' or 'oo, that sounds cool!') get in touch via http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/contact/forum/ and we'll see what we can do. I'm afraid I can make no promises at this time but that would be the best avenue to explore.

Thanks
DS Forum Support

Information on username change here.

Quote:
It is your responsibility to keep the information in your profile up-to-date. You should especially ensure that your email address is kept current. You can alter any of the fields in your profile, except your username. Once you have registered your username, it becomes yours for life. In extreme circumstances, you may request that the administrator change your username, but he or she will require a very good reason to do so.

Joanne realised it's probably best not to have her real first and surname as her username on a forum.
