I know that this isn't about BTV but this is his usual place to post so....

just to let everyone know that jonesyboy has had a major operation on his back which will hopefully alleviate the constant pain he lived with for ages.

the recovery period is a mindblowing 2 years!

I've copied his PM in to this post and so whilst he might not post much I'm sure he'll read the boards and it might be nice to wish him good luck etc.

let me be first.

Good luck Pete, hopefully the beginning of the end of the pain. Remember PMA baby!!

Well tis done and I am home. 15" scar up the back. Enough metalwork for a couple of meccano sets.

It is So-So painfull. All muscles are detached from my lower spine and have to grow back together.

6 weeks. settling down
6 months main recovery.
2 years complete knitting together.

Long slow slow process.

Well off for a nap. Healing is so so tiring. I doubt if I will post for a while. Too weary

Thanks for the support

Pete

Good Luck Son, I've suffered with a poor back for a few years off and on, but never like that.

You'll be watching a lot of TV no doubt!

Thank you all. I was actually on the table for 6 hours, with 2 full top consultants working on me. One on each side Still tis done now.

Yep, daytime telly and old recordings. Once a bit fitter, PS3 and Xbox 360 will be brought out of hibernation..

I will now withdraw and observe the goings on within DS. My brain is too scrambled to take part in any fun.

Here's wishing you a speedy recovery, jonesyboy!

I'm also glad to hear that they were "full" consultants, and not justbits of them!

Just re-read my post I blame the drugs Thank you one and all. Yep the TV will get a good bashing. So My Wife decided I needed a new one. It is mind blowing how much TV's have improved, in 3 years Upscaled Vision looks fantastic, as does BBC HD on freesat.

Wishing you a speedy successful recovery.

Upscaled vision is good. I enjoyed fast n furious 2009 in HD on it. excellent pic. its probably one of the best freeview upscaling boxes out there.

Freesat is good, shame I can't get it. Football in HD is awsome.

3 years is a long time in video and computing.

Upscaling do make a difference, well on DVDs anyway. I think next year I am going to get freesat, not 100% yet.

Due to my "Drugged up condition" my post did not come across properly. I was actually referring to my new Toshiba TV. The improvement in picture quality. number of connections(4 HDMI plus others) All since my last new TV 3 years ago.

The range of picture adjustment is also amazing. All this really show of the BT Vision Upscaling and as you mention DVD upscaling to.

I already have Freesat. The few HD broadcasts are excellent. Football on ITV HD yesterday was as good as any I have seen. What lets Freesat down is the lack of channel/program choice.

Thanks for the kind words. If I do not make sense sometimes, I blame the pain and drugs.

Very understandable. when you are in pain, your mind focuses on anything really.

Which freesat box you have?

I have the humax Foxsat HDR. I have had it for 9 months and in that time have had only one failed recording (User error) I really believe the faults have been grossly overstated.

Sd broadcasts are fine. HD excellent. but not enough broadcast.

Now another dose of morphine before I flake out
