Sky Modem MUST be plugged into master socket AT ALL TIMES
Just finished a call to Sky regarding a problem with my BB since the exchange was upgraded.
On 4th November I spent some time going over the probelm and explained that my connection had dropped by 2m since the 'Upgrade' I was promised a call back when a technician was available but..... you can guess the rest. I have again spoken to sky and have now been told that the modem MUST ALWAYS BE CONNECTED to the master socket. Iwas further told that the tech department would not help if I was not connected in this way. He went on to tell me that the fact the setup had worked perfrctly for over two years I could expect it to continue to get worse until I had no connection. I explained that in all the years I had been using adsl broadband this was the first time I had been told to leave the modem in the master socket at all time. I have always been asked to connect to the master soket only as an aid in fault finding to determin if there was a fault in the internal wiring. The gentleman who I was speaking to was insistant that this was a requirement and doubted if they could help further. I advised that I was going to end the call as I had no intention of arguing. This 'new' requierment is totally impractical for me as I am sure it will be for many people. Whats the general thoughts on this? Anyone else been told this was a requirement? It's a handy way of avoiding addressing the problem of my loss of 2m download speed. |
