Revenge Of The Sith

saw it on tv, very good movie, one of the best Star Wars films; explained how and showed how Annakin Skywalker was turned to the Dark Side and became Darth Vader.

Almost enough to wipe out the memory of 'Phantom Menace' but sadly too little too late...

Awesome ending btw

Definitely the best of the 3 prequels IMO

The way Palpatine pulled the wool over everyone's eyes and just effectively took over was the real story for me in the prequels

He just soaked up the power, built his army with a secret order 66, brainwashed Anakin and wiped out the Jedi in one foul swoop

I liked Revenge of the Sith when I first saw it but it seems to get worse with every repeat viewing. The Phantom Menace is a stronger film in my humble opinion

I like the prequels. Amazingly, some of the effects leave something to be desired, as well as the acting, but the stories are good - epIII is probably my favourite.
For the many many fans of Darth Vader it probably was very exciting seeing Anni become Vader the first time they watched the movie.
I could not help actually thinking how sad that that sweet little boy in epI would go on to become this overlord - I would say monster, but of course there are many reminders that Anni/Vader was not ALL bad and actually regretted his dark side.
Whatever the naysayers may say (nay of course LOL) show me a better 6 part movie/story franchise that is actually ONE big story split up.
Genius stuff really.

Best of the prequels? Maybe. Still an outright terrible piece of film-making? Definitely.

slightly OT here.
I bought the original trilogy (6 discs) including cinema versions for 12 quid in asda yesterday.
Can anyone beat THAT price?

I think it's an enjoyable film , but the key moment - why Anakin became Vader - is so moronic I still can't believe they went wth it :

Palpatine tells anakin he has the power to save Padme ,ok , but then straight after Palpy kills Mace (Sam Jackson) he admts that he doen't actually have the power to save Padme , at which point you'd have expected a huuge "WHAAAT ?!?" from anakin , but no the doofus simply trots off to murder a bunch of kids .

It's really good except for:

1. The dreadful script.
2. Hayden Christensen
3. Ewan MacGregor being horribly wooden (could be the script).
4. Padme going from strong female heroine in the first two movies to wussy female archetype overnight.
5. Younglings, what a stupid word.
6. Ewan and Yoda referring to the Emperor before he's proclaimed the empire (could be a force thing, that's how we usually explain these things).
7. Noooooooo! And the wonky walk as he takes his first steps.
8. Putting Luke with Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru that apparently Anakin doesn't know exist, but taking Leia off to to Royal Family of Alderaan, who incidentally I'm fairly sure could afford to look after them both.
9 Padme dying as a result of, well, nothing - especially as it would have been so easy for her to die as a result of her argument with Anakin, and the fact the lives long enough to have the cleanest birth in movie history and name the children before a dramatic splat that couldn't have been any more cliched if she'd squeaked "so cold!" as she drifted off.

Part 3 was too corny. When Windoo goes to arrest Palpatine with another 2? Jedi's
How easy did Palpatine cut them down.

The moment they had discovered he was a Sith lord, everybody would've been made aware

And Obi 1, why did you not finish Anakin off, you weak Jedi. Arghhhhhh

Might not be a popular held opinion but I also think Phantom Menace is the best (i'm not saying it's a great movie or anything because it's not), it's got all the faults of the others but to me it still seems to hold some of the charm of the originals, charm that's nowhere to be seen in Clones and Sith. It also has the duel light sabre battle with Maul, easily the best scene from any of the prequels.

I can't even sit through Clones or Sith now.

You have gone 4 years without seeing or knowing what the film is about

I hear what you are saying re: dual light sabre duels (phew got that right!), and agree 100% with you, but that JarJarBinks thing just ruined the whole movie for me if it hadn't have been it - think what a movie it would have been? (sadly shakes her head)

good film but I think overall with all three films Annikin went to the dark side far too quickly.

At one point he was just a bit confused so then he just killed all the Jedi's and turning to the dark side. I think they could have explored that more.

Also once he put on the suit and did that no we saw how much power he had with all the room shaking and metal bending but that never got explored further

Totally agree

I still get excited when I see the doors open and Darth Maul standing there

The 1st time I saw it, I remember the double edged lightsaber and just said 'f****** hell'

i agree on ep1 being better then ep2/3. 2 was shocking imo and 3 although good on first viewing is rather cheap and crass on repeated watches. ep1 does hold its own very well and is probably the most rounded story of the prequels.

He's had no problems elsewhere - leads me to believe it was the script. The rediculous amount of blue screen doesn't help.

7. Noooooooo! And the wonky walk as he takes his first steps.

Agreed about the god awful noooo. However, bearing in mind hes just been given new metal legs - i think you'd walk like that too.

8. Putting Luke with Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru that apparently Anakin doesn't know exist, but taking Leia off to to Royal Family of Alderaan, who incidentally I'm fairly sure could afford to look after them both.

I'd have thought the logic here was obvious. If you've got two uber important objects, you're not going to put them in the same place are you. Seperating Luke and Leia would slow down any attempt to find them both.

A major bugbear of mine along with the arena scene from Clones - we're told about how Jedi are supposed to be these fantastic keepers of the peace and excellent fighters - yet they get slain quite easily.

This was disgraceful from Lucas. She "lost the will to live" apparently. Yes ok so just giving birth to two beautiful children wasn't enough to make her want to live? What a selfish cow

Apart from Kenobi's "Another happy landing" line, it's worth watching for a few reasons.

Firstly, Mace Windbag gets thoroughly owned. So satisfying. They could've added a few more minutes of the lightning business, and I wouldn't have tired of it.
Yoda runs off with his tail between his legs. This is almost as good as Mace's demise.
Palpatine. Who was probably the best character of the bunch.
"Nooooooooo!" I mean, honestly. How bad was that cry of despair.

I was rooting for the bad guys to be honest. Soulless movie.
