The IT Crowd or Father Ted

Written by same guy, both classics, but which is best ?

For me IT Crowd slightly shades it.

No come to think of it ...Father Ted

I agree Father Ted is a classic but don't underestimate the IT Crowd . That is out loud funny on many occasions.

You're right it is laugh out loud funny, but whether it could make me laugh again and again like Dougals cows (small...... far away!) remains to be seen.

I'd give the nod to Father Ted, although it is a little overrated and The IT Crowd underrated. They're pretty close, IMO. Ardal O'Hanlon wins it for FT.

Both are fantastic entertainment, but Father Ted has to be one of the funniest sitcoms of all time. I have no doubt C4 will still be showing it twenty years from now.

Father Ted is one of the best shows ever made (I'd say...it was the second best...). Everything fell into place for the perfect show and it's not often that that happens. The IT Crowd can never match it but Graham Linehan's done a bloody good job with it. He's proven that traditional sitcoms can still be great and SHOULD always be made.

Father Ted for me...pure gold. I'm not really a fan of the IT Crowd...have watched a few episodes but it hasn't grown on me at all, whereas I found Father Ted was completely infectious. I would even go as far as suggesting that nothing has bettered it since if finished...although I'm Alan Partridge comes pretty close!

I do like the IT Crowd, but think there's one or two episodes that are slightly below par (whilst still being funnier then a hell of a lot of stuff), but I can't think of one episode of Father Ted that doesn't still, after many viewings, make me howl with laughter - So Father Ted edges it for me.

*Spends rest of day looking up Father Ted on youtube and doing no work whatsoever *

For me its quite simply too difficult to choose. When I think of Ted Crilly's inadvertent Hitler impression I can't stop laughing, but when I think of Moss kissing Roy when the police cars go past I go into similar fits.

For an individual moment, I'm not sure if anything in Father Ted beats the end of the IT Crowd theatre episode, or the moment a fire breaks out in the office "Four, I mean five, I mean fire!" with the phone number 0118999 88199 9119725..3 and then Moss writing the email "Dear sir or madam, fire exclamation mark, fire exclamation mark. Look forward to hearing from you."

But as has been said, there are a few below-par IT Crowd episodes, while pretty much every single episode of Father Ted is a classic. As a whole, Ted is the better show.
