Guest shouts at Irish Presenter Pat Kenny over his salary

Extraordinary rant by a man in the audience of Pat Kenny's show on RTE.

I managed to switch over just as this was starting. Priceless. He's a lunatic but he came out with a few classics.

She is elected to be corrupt.
She is elected to be a hypocrite.

And Pat cool as ever, ending "It's fair to say we give everyone a voice"

They're not. They're paid in Euros, but you'll still have people talk about pounds and quid.

Seems like yer man is a professional ranter. He went off on one at a union boss last week too.

I wonder how long before he gets his own column in the Daily Fail?

i wouldn't bother, it's not a live "live show" and any disruption would no doubt be edited out before broadcast.

Thanks for thinking of me though and I'm pleased you recognise his salary business is an issue worth confronting.

Do ou reckon he was a professional ranter or someone who feels atagonised by the way in which Ireland has gone. After all money seems to be found for NAMA

You are getting your facts confused there. Last week Pat Kenny told a union boss to stop talking "crap" for referring to his house as a "trophy house" that should be taxed highly. This week a member of the audience accussed Pat of being a hypocrite for taking a huge €600k+ salary per annum from a state company whilst questioning if the level of social welfare payments was too high.

It is hard when journalists are paid huge salaries for them to perhaps understand what life is like on a low income. I think the man who challenged him has a reasonable point as regards credibility when you consider the monopoly position as regards tv talent above a certainly level in Ireland.

Look at the face on the woman sat next to him

"I've been waiting 20 years to say this"

Priceless

Yeah, but I think his credibility left him when he started barking like a gibbon. There's a way to put forward a good point, and I don't think he chose the best.

He did go OTT but I do wish members of a studio audience would join in more often, we are supposed to live in an interactive age.

It's the 'showbiz' programmes such as O'Grady, Norton and Ross where they have someone like Katie Price presenting a false impression of themselves and their actions which go unchallenged, those shows would benefit from studio interaction.

No. Ireland's current favourite windowlicker harangued people at the ICTU rally last Friday week http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DD2VpesAt2I
and also accosted Richard Dawkins.

As for credibility, ranting that the Plank only works 11 hours a week was laughable. But he sounds like thousands of people down the pub complaining that other people make more money than they do, so everybody loves him... go figure
