Mgm Hd

I was watching a film on Sky the other day and when it finished a voice over said 'turn to channel 345 for MGMHD, a channel showing content you can't see anywhere else'.

Now there is obviously nothing on 345 at the moment and having searched these forums and the internet there doesn't appear to be any news about it either.

Anybody have any information about it?

It's a US cable channel. Ive seen it over there a few times.
I don't think its available in the UK but im guessing they leave the advertisement on some films shown on Sky maybe?

Was the voiceover British or American?

I just heard it too on the end of The Changing, female English voice, sounded like one of the Sky voiceover people but it certainly did say MGMHD starting Thursday.

Sky Movies Indie HD was originally supposed to launch on channel 345 and then Sky announced it would launch on channel 344 a few days before it was added to the EPG.

Clearly channel 344 was reserved for MGM HD and because it didn't launch Sky Movies Indie HD got channel 344 and this channel has been allocated channel 345 instead.

I wonder if there will be an SD version of the channel as well?

Any tests for it on one of the HD transponders?

I would not be surprised if it's HD exclusive like Rush HD.

MGM's movie selection is pretty crap tbh but I welcome it anyway, especially as I'll have HD in a few weeks

That's the US site though. All of the service providers on there are American.

I'm not sure about this.

[quote=thedrifter;36577496]well according to this its allready available in Ireland. MGM movie channel has been available in Ireland since 2004 on NTL digital cable. Some of my friends told me that it is a crap channel. If it is to launch on sky digital i hope we get the sd version as well as the hd channel. Surely we would have seen some tests by now.

It now listed on the DS Upcoming Channel List. Who updates this?

If it does launch, then why wasn't the Test picked up?

There is currently only one channel in test right now so it could be for MGM HD

I don't know about HD channels but i remember when Sky digital started every so often a channel would just appear on the epg. Maybe there is some way of hiding these channels so people can't tune them in before they launch on the epg. My guess and it's only a guess is that it won't launch tomorrow. Hope i am wrong.

Didn't Sci Fi UK say it didn't have any plans for its HD channel even though it was testing.

There's no hiding place from the channel hunters and collectors on DS. There is a weekly thread in the Sky forum coordinated by Radio Ruderham (see post 12 above)covering just such activities (this weeks is here) and if you are interested in this sort of thing you will be very welcome to join us.
