Queen week, another Rock week? WHY??

OK 2 weeks ago we had rock week, Which was good for certain acts. SO why 2 weeks later does Simon come up with Queen week? Is this another attempt at fixing it so that Jamie can do his thing his way?
Also will Jedward do the same song? Like they did in the final showdown?

Im smell a rat!

But there's not been a rock week before (or X Factor's idea of a rock week!)

It's certainly not been overdone.

Previous X Factors have centred on specific artists, why not Queen?

I don't. The pressure was a bit too high on Jamie on rock week and he didn't perform his best. So I don't subscribe to any conspiracy theory apart from wondering whether Cowell owns a % of Queen's back catalogue or something.

maybe because everyone is bored with the diva type appearances X factor usually hypes up... i think more rock and indie music is required for this show to survive... coz this is the only year which has produced anything that i would consider good... not everyone likes Pop and diva... some of us like Indie and Rock...its making it a fairer playing Field for the boys this year... coz pop and diva is female focused anyways IMO...

Not all Queen songs are rock. How about 'Don't stop me now'? or 'You're my best friend' ?

Does Syco only have access to certain music rights 'cos they seem to be recycled songs?

Absolutely right.

The X Factor does seem to concentrate on pop/chart-type music with mass appeal. It does seem to exclude the indie/rock/alternative at the expense of becoming bland and repetetive.

I think that's why Jamie has attracted such a large following.

Queen probably have the most versatile back catalogue of any artist in the industry and sticking to one artist forces the contestants to be on an equal footing. It will make and break the contestants and the true front runners will appear!

It's also probably to tie in with promoting the release of a new Queen compilation album due out on the 16th November.

I'm a huge Queen fan so I'm delighted that it's a Queen theme, and that hopefully means Brian May and Roger Taylor on the show on Sunday, maybe with Paul Rogers as Queen + Paul Rogers, although I'm not a Paul Rogers fan. But I digress! Any Queen fan will tell you that Queen are one of the most flexible bands ever, with heavy rock numbers such as the early stuff like Keep Yourself Alive and Seven Seas of Rhye. There's disco numbers such as Another One Bites The Dust, loads of ballads, like Love of My Life (Which Joe would do superbly) , You're My Best Friend, Somebody To Love, and Who Wants To Live Forever, medium rock numbers like Don't Stop Me Now and even Rockabilly numbers like Crazy Little Thing Called Love. So really, in my opinion, there's a song for everyone in that list.....

If I had to put a song to an artist I would say the following, and this is just a bit of fun:

Olly: Crazy Little Thing Called Love
Danyl: We Are The Champions
Jamie: Seven Seas of Rhye
Joe: Love of My Life
Stacey: I Want To Break Free
JEdward: Radio Ga Ga
Lloyd: You're My Best Friend

I always thought the themes were set around the contestants and manipulated to suit the direction they wanted the show to go.

Come on since when has She Bangs been Big Band.

We haven't had a real rock week, the last one was just a bunch of pop songs with 2 guitar chords here and there, and some rock songs turned into disco/dance or ballads, with some horrible dance choreography. Come on, when did Guns N' Roses have a couple of ballroom dancers tacked onto their performances?

I think Queen will suit Danyl more than anyone else - he should have a great week.
Olly should do well too. The only one that might be a bit unsuited to it is Stacey.

I hope Simon won't just think Jamie=rock and give him one of the too obviously rocky ones like I Want It All/Another One Bites The Dust cos I actually don't think they would suit him at all. He'd be better off with something like The Show Must Go On.
SyCo seems a bit clueless when it comes to picking stuff for Jamie. Rocks Off was a s**t choice for him in Rock Week. How can anyone show off their voice with that when the chorus is all on one note!

I've been thinking this as well. It seems like the same songs crop up again and again.
Purple Rain, I'm Telling You I'm Not Going, Feelin' Good - We had all these last year and this.

Maybe theres only certain songs they're allowed to use. It would explain why the mentors often seem to make such bad song choices if they're picking from a really limited list.

I wish he would make the others learn and rehearse a song in 24 hours not knowing the arrangement. On XF they change the arrangements and of course to learn new backing.
Now that would be a great week all of them would be given a song in the last 24 hours.

We've already had torture week, that was Britney Spears week last year.

I think its just to suit Jedward Radio GaGa or We are the Champions, there are many over blown dramatic queen songs that could apply to them.
