Midweeks for Leona & JLS

Singles

1 Leona Lewis 36.4k
2 Black Eyed Peas 30.3k
3 JLS 22.1k
4 N-Dubz 18.9k
5 Sugababes 17.8k

Albums
1 JLS 79.5k
2 Robbie Williams 74.4k
3 Snow Patrol 20.2k
4 Biffy Clyro 19.2k
5 Soldiers 16.5k

Huge sales for the JLS album, Leona number 1 in the singles - expected her and BEPs to be closer actually...

Low sales for the singles compared to previous weeks but well done Leona, hope she stays at #1, even if there are better songs on the new album.

Very shocked at JLS sales, well done boys! Much deserved!

I think Leona will hold on to #1, just

But I think Robbie will probably take over JLS, like Cheryl did with Bon Jovi last week (and BJ had a bigger lead)

JLS' sales are probably more frontloaded than Robbie so will probably overtake by Sunday - however surprised they sold nearly 80k to be honest - isn't it more than Alex and Cheryl sold on the 1st mids?

More than their midweeks, yes, but as you say they are very front loaded. Alex outsold Cheryl's first week sales but Cheryl has now overtaken her 2 week sales as she's been a more constant seller

A Comparison of JLS' first Midweek album sales to Cheryl and Alex'

Cheryl: 31,200
Alex: 41,200
JLS: 79,500

They've sold more than Alex and Cheryl put together on the 1st set of mids - kinda crazy, was expecting them to be more a singles based act than an album act tbh

JLS are NOT #1!

UPDATE - error in previous article, now corrected

Robbie inches away from JLS in albums chart battle

10:30 | Tuesday November 10, 2009

By Paul Williams

Robbie Williams has taken an early lead over JLS in the battle to top this coming Sunday’s UK albums chart but only a handful of sales separate the two acts

Midweek charts initially showed the Epic boy band’s self-titled debut album taking the lead over Williams’ Reality Killed The Radio Star (Virgin).

However, it is understood that this is due to a reporting issue at the Official Charts Company, which led to some sales of Williams’ album not being counted. With these sales added, Williams has a slender lead over JLS.

They're not though

Sorry JLS fans, I like the boys but Robbies album is great and this week is his I hope.

Not sure but the correction seems to indicate Robbie's knocking on 80k for first midweeks

Yeap Robbie is slightly in the lead - still very impressive sales though - for both actually especially considering how Robbie's last album went

I think Leona has maintained the lead she had over the BEP since yesterday hopefully she will hang on until the end of the week.

I'm glad Robbie is beating JLS, as they said they were really looking forward to going head-to-head with Robbie.
Well, they've got what they wanted, but I bet they didn't expect to be losing the battle.

they've closed the gap on him over the course of two sets of mids from 6k to 1.9k- and are selling more than Alex did at this point.

I guess you didn't see the subsequent article which says that they aren't expecting to win against Robbie and just happy to have an album out...

I wouldn' call them astounding, both Andy Abraham and Journey South who did not win, sold over 250K albums in the first week and look what happened to them. They got dropped

But neither had 2 number 1 singles in the bag - both acts released quickly after the X Factor and cashed in on the mothers day chart (or at least thats from what I remember)
