Why not let the contestants decide deadlock
They could have a live vote amongst themselves.
Although it could be another deadlock

I think they used to have something similar on Fame Academy- fellow contestants saving an act in the bottom 3.

I think that would be a very good idea. That way, the save or go to deadlock might be a lot fairer.

They could make them fight it out or leg wrestle. Anything would be more interesting than the faux drama.

the bottom 2 would be put to the other contestants for them to choose who stays and who goes |

That's not a bad idea actually. There could be a secret ballot after the live show Saturday among the contestants, with the result announced on the Sunday show.
It'd make deadlock look boring by comparison.

Good idea, I'd take anything over the populist voting of the public.

That would surely only make more rumours of contestants conspiring against each other and fabled pacts in the house.
It would have to be a snap decision on the show. I like the re-opening of the phone lines at the beginning of the Sunday show (after the group mime), and closing after the first guest act is done. Votes can be tallies while the 2nd guest act performs, then annonced. Simples. |

What on earth?
Deadlock goes to the public vote because the public are watching from home and ultimately the public will be buying the records and voting for who they like! |

I believe completely in re-opening the lines for the bottom two, but only if deadlocked. And that wouldn't be known until the final part of the show... |

The contestants constantly go on about how they're "fighting" to stay in the competition, so why don't they make them put their money where there mouth is?
Make whoever is in the bottom 2 fight it out to decide who goes through...Whoever is floored first gets eliminated. |

It means doing away with the judges vote. Bottom 2 is announced at the start of the Sunday show, they do their sing off song, lines are reopened. 2 guest acts perform, results announced. Make the sunday show something other than a platform for Simon/Cheryl/Louis to launch singles/albums from...

Perhaps a larger voting panel selected randomely from the audience to decide the fate of the bottom two would be representative of what listeners want to see and hear more of and a possible solution to end the judges voting with their own agendas. |

It would stop all the furore - And you know what, if they had done this, there is STILL no guarantee that Lucie would have stayed. Some people just can't seem to get their heads round the fact that Jedward have actual support. |

Can't see Simon agreeing to this TBH as it would mean a loss of control over the outcome. The judges vote gives him a safety net to rescue acts who might end up in the bottom two against his wishes in the earlier stages of the show. And he may well be right, if viewers got what they thought they wanted the show might become unwatchable (I am thinking of the way all the interesting characters get voted out in shows like BB)
I doubt that he and the show's producers will see this as an actual problem that needs resolving unless people do actually stop watching and voting in sizeable numbers because of unpopular decisions. In reality I expect Jedwardgate (as possibly no-one but me is calling it ) will increase viewing figures and interest in the show.
