Toshiba Resolution+ question
Having just become the proud owner of a 635 series Tosh I have a question about Resolution+
In my setup I have the Sky HD permanently set to output 1080i to the panel. So effectively the HD box is upscaling SD. I have Resolution+ set to on. Does Resolution+ know when he signal is SD or HD? Does it automatically switch off and on when need be? |

Yes it does know whether you are feeding an SD or an HD signal, all TVs have to know this otherwise they couldn't work properly. When you have the Sky set to 1080i then you are always sending an HD signal albeit an upscaled one if the original source was SD.
If you want your TV to upscale rather than the Sky box you need to set the Sky box to "Automatic". Try them both (Auto and 1080i) and see which one gives the best picture. Note that Automatic has the added advantage of preserving the aspect ratio information so you don't have to keep manually adjusting like you do with 1080i, manually adjusting the aspect ratio is a real pain and so 1080i would need to be much better to make it worthwhile. |
