EastEnders - New family for the Vic idea.

With old ma Mitchell leaving next year, I think It's time the vic had a new family.

THE BURNS.

Johnny(45), Kate(43),Jake(19),Karen(17).

Johnny who had been a docker in Liverpool for 25 years has just been made redundant, His father had ran a pub all his life and decides to give it ago him self, We see him looking at pubs for sale when he comes across the Vic for sale. after much persuading His family agree.

Domestic violence, drugs and alcoholism.

I will type up the rest later.

I dont know man u are kind of setting yourself up for failure here..EE audiences are very particular about who heads the vic and its preferably white/londoner..I remember when someone said they would like to see denise be the landlady and a poster said black ppl can never own pubs or if they did it wouldnt be in london (or something to that effect)..As foolish and ignorant as I found that statement that is probably the general feeling amongst EE fans..

But anyway back on topic call it regionalphobia but could the audience except someone who sounded like bert (jay's uncle) being the landlord of the vic? ask yourself

Good characters are liked no matter the colour of their skin (The Masood's/Foxs for example.), don't assume the majority of EE viewers are the same as that of the silent minority.

As for the Vic, very few people want it out of the Mitchell's hands, that's been proven many times by the uproar when it goes to different hands. Regardless their colour.

Johnny is a sex addict, and when he gets drunk he demands it with his wife, when she refuses, he rapes her. but doesnt know his children can hear all of it. On their first night in the vic it happens again and Jake snaps and strikes his father over the head with the baseball bat that Peggy has left behind.

Johnny survives, but the family then realise they need another fresh start and leave the vic after one day. Pat takes over with patrick.

Slow down cowboy you are taking what I wrote out of context and turning it into some crusade..I know EE audiences can like I good character regardless of their race..But that is not what this discussion is about..

This discussion is about who audiences will except behind the vic..Lets face it the unspoken truth behind that 'title' is that the person must look and sound very "british" *cough* londonder *cough*..If i'm lying then why is it that in all the years that EE has been on air the only person to manage the vic who was of a different ethnicity was Clyde Tavernier..And it was only a temporary device designed by sharon to get up grant's wick..The producers were too afraid to make it last past a week

But my main point was about regionalphobia which you completely ignored

Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I know it does happen. And although rape has been in EastEnders before, it has never actually been shown. I don't think that scene would be shown on a pre-watershed show. However, I like the idea of a NEW family getting The Vic.

Good grief!

I didn't mean actually showing a rape scence!

I don't think even Santer would touch something as silly as that.

First things first, Accept, not except (pet hate that seems to happen on here too often.)

I read it wrong, woops, but still, people don't want anyone that's not a Mitchell in charge, it's not so much having to be a Londoner, because you can bet whoever may possibly take over won't be liked, and Mitchell's will once again take over.

Heres my scenario:-

Shirley is drunk on vodka and wondering the streets singing. She falls over and on the ground she finds a lottery ticket which turns out to be a winner, she wins enough money to buy the vic and then Phil decides to marry her now that she has a quid or two and they run it together.

Is that really the best you have, highlighting grammatical errors? You were better off just starting your post with the second paragraph, that way you wouldnt look so petty

How about Gordon Burns joins as himself? He could play Krypton Factor with Mo Harris.

If shirley takes over the pub, that means she'll be in nearly EVERY episode. If that ever happened id switch off until she leaves EE!!!

Here my scenario:

Steve (38) arrives in the square from Yorkshire as the new owner of the Vic. He's thinking of changing the name to a more posh, modern up-market type of place. Steve shares this idea with the local punters (meaning the whole of albert square and a few extras) and their quick to disagree. He has quickly lost his alright reputation and is at Ian Beagle standard. After a few days of Steve trying to please everyone, his family arrive on the scene, Helen (35) Joe (17) Kayleigh (13)
Joe and Steve clearly have a rocky relationship, but he adores his little sister. Jay and his mates threaten Joe and make it clear he's not welcome in Albert Square. Helen and Steve are arguing at home, and its all getting a bit too much for Kayleigh. She runs to her bedroom crying. Joe comes home and he tells Kayleigh to pack a bag and they prepare to run off back home in Yorkshire. Steve looks out the window the same time as they are running towards the station. He runs to catch them up. Joe and Steve have an argument on the platform and Joe looses his temper and pushes his dad, who loses his balance and falls into the tracks. Steve gets right up but the platform is high and Joe helps him up, but at the same time the train comes. *end of friday nights episode * Did Joe pull Steve up in time or did he get smushed??

hope you liked that

Move Pat, Bianca, Ricky and kids in and let them run it.

You know it makes sense.

How about Jack, Pearl and Tracey Watts: Jack is a womaniser and a cheat, Pearl is an alcoholic and their adopted daughter Tracey is a lost soul with a pink fluffy jumper

oh hang on I think they have been done before

What if Sharon were to return with her boy Dennis and a boyfriend/husband from America to run the Vic. This could create friction between Sharon's husband and Phil. There could be a storyline were Phil still has feelings for Sharon. They have an affair but Phil says to Sharon that she either decides to live with Phil and Ben in the Vic or he will tell all to her husband Simon and risk losing everything.

Still introduce the family but that be the extension of Simon's family, perhaps a son and daughter. The son goes with Libby to uni, Zack and a daughter Jess who works with Chelsea at the salon. The two become good friends and they both develop Libby and Chelsea further as characters.
