Few questions about the pill
No lectures about not using condoms please
![]() I took two packets of the pill back to back without my pill free week as I was due on when I saw my boyfriend last week. Was I still protected? & I've taken the pill at about midday today but I've been feeling really sick (not actually thrown up though). I'm aware if I am physically sick then that can bring the pill back up & not work, but how long does it take for my body to digest it? Also my flatmate has asked me to ask: She's got tonsilitis and has been given a 7 day course of antibiotics to take, she had her last pill and took the first antibi yesterday (Monday) so is now on her pill free week AND on antibis for a week, but we can't work out if she's unprotected by the pill for this week or for the next two weeks (pill free week and the week she starts back on the pill) Thanks

Im not definitely sure about the anti b question sorry but I think it should be that she has to use protection for 7 days after she has finished taking the antibiotics. When you have your period it not the same as someone who isnt on the pill's period because you havent released an egg (the pill stops ovulation) so her period wont make any difference for how long she is unprotected for.
As for taking 2 packets in a row, you are still protected yes, I have to take 3 - 4 packets in a row due to a medical condition I have, and I am always protected no matter how many packets I take in a row as long as I have taken it correctly. If you havent actually been sick then you will be fine. |

Im on the pill and have been for about 10 years, the last couple of years I have taken it constantly... the doctor says this is ok. Mind you I do allow myself (if thats the right phrase lol) a period maybe twice a year. Remember if you are sick it can affect the pill for 7 days as well as an upset stomach, antibiotics |

Your friend should use protection (I feel so old saying that!) for this week for definate and for next week, but probably until her next period she might want to be careful!
