Simon is even cleverer than I gave him credit for.

Given that the show's result can't be changed now, there's got to be some ulterior motive for Simon to not only say this, but to do so through an agent. Goodness knows what he's up to.

its going to be perfect..

because if twins/one of simons acts are in the bottom two.
he can then turn around all tell either Dannii or cheryl to be braver than he was..

the only thing that will bugger the plan up if 2 of his acts are in the singoff.

Damage limitation, or a pre-arranged plot to get what he wants?

I vote the latter.

Choosing Lloyd over Rachel, choosing Jedward over Lucie, the standing ovations for his own acts. The guy's becoming a laughing stock.

I don't believe it. Simon isn't sorry. He certainly isn't doing it for sympathy, it must be to make the fans happy. Show you're sorry, admit you made a mistake and most people will be happy.

Tut, tut Simon.

I said in the other thread damage limitation, and I stick with it.

I think hes been very badly advised for once.

Getting rid of Lucie wasnt the issue, it was weeks of 'I hate the twins' , Ill leave the country stuff to hype the show then saving them.

He showed himself up, and I think he was far too blatant about it this time, and its backfired.

How can you honestly criticise a vocal performance on any future show now and be taken seriously?

How can they judge auditions next year when Simon has saved a group who, from his own mouth 'cant sing or dance'.

Its a PR nightmare for the shows future, hence Cliffords appearance, and whilst I think short term both viewing and voting figures will be up, which is what they were thinking of Sunday, long term they may have a problem, and they are just realising it.

I think Simon probably had a long term plan to gradually 'mellow' on the twins, but Sunday forced his hand. We already knew that he most likely had plans for them...now we definitely know it.

Haven't seen any of this series but there was a publicist or agent on GMTV who said contestants have been made aware they are merely 'cannon fodder'.

Thank you!

That's something i've thought would happen ever since they were announced as being in the live shows - As far as i'm concerned Simon's music knowledge is dire but his marketing ability is spot-on. And the twins have marketing potential in spades.

I agree with others that the plan on Saturday was to show Simon gradually softening to the twins however the script went completely wrong when they ended up in the bottom two and not Lloyd which forced Simon's hand. This weeks explanation from him will likely still benefit the twins as his plans still havent changed for them but how he now expects to ever be trusted again I do not know. Surely the public are not gullible enough to believe anything he has to say on Saturday?

Does it matter, does he care?

If the media see a commercial opportunity they're unlikely to kick up a storm.

They've probably already negotiated a media strategy hence 'rent a gob'.
