Dalek in THE WATERS OF MARS? [Spoilers]

total TV guide has a dalek on the front this week along with tennant and duncan.

http://blogtorwho.blogspot.com/2009/...ide-cover.html

does this mean one will be in the waters of mars?

Over at GB someone mentioned that after the press screening someone said there was.

Thats a Dalek Promo picture they used for 'Parting of the Ways'

They just shoved it on coz its the doctor.

Lets kill matt smith before the weekend so the last 3 hours of david tennant can be fun. Then Cast some other guy. The doctor always wanted to be ginger (apparantly)
He wouldnt get that from any other guy.
spoiler:
Hint: Hes Never gonna give... forget it.

(I'm Bored)

The daleks are not in wom....and even if they were it is pointless putting 'spoiler' in a thread title when you then give away the very thing that would be the spoiler if it were true.

There is indeed a Dalek in WOM for a second as part of one of the Doctor's halucinations but I doubt the people who make this magazine actually knew that.

Who'd have thought that Total TV guide would have been giving away a cheeky spoiler and not just using a racy cover image!

Unless theres a little bit more to the story that we havn't been told yet.

The fact that the Dalek didn't kill Adelaide when she was a child was very much glossed over. Was it because it knew that she would die eventually or was it because she was key to the future of the universe? Now, this is where I disappear into the realms of pure speculation, and i'm sure I would get shot down by someone more knowledgable of the Whoniverse than me....

When I first saw Gadget I thought there was a passing resemblance between Gadgets eye and a Daleks stalk, so maybe the Dalek had to let her live because they designed themselves on technology used in Gadget. Without Adelaide on Mars, Gadget would not have been created and therefore neither would the Daleks.

Go on, shoot me, i've got a bullet proof vest

you could be onto something there!

A future Brooke married some alien prince and created a new species, did they not!! This species were the Kaleds! so Davros has Brooke DNA in him!

On Doctor Who Confidential, it was said the Dalek realised she was part of a fixed point in time.

Certainly there's no link between Gadget and the genesis of the Daleks, as their creation was covered in Genesis of the Daleks. Skaro was not aware of Earth. And if Adelaide had never been born, someone else would have commanded the mission, just as someone else would have taken the first interstellar flight if she hadn't inspired her granddaughter.

While someone is always first to accomplish a dream, dreams are rather commonplace. Many people were working on flight, but the Wright brothers were first. If they'd never lived, does anyone think we wouldn't have flight yet? Or if Alexander Graham Bell hadn't been born that we wouldn't have telephones?

Have to say the dalek encounter rather intrigued me too. I suppose it's nothing more than has already been said. Adelaide was a fixed point in the future and so the dalek could not kill her at that point.

But I do like to look at things a bit further, and wonder if the dalek knew that she would in some way be the catalyst for the demise of the Doctor.

If she were not on Mars when the Doctor arrived, he would not have gone into his omnipotent status, meddled with the timeline and maybe in doing so set up his own downfall. We don't know yes whether there are repercussions to what he's done. Only that Adelaides granddaugher did fulfil her destiny. So maybe the dalek realised her importance in the future and spared her.

Having knowledge of the future is so confusing, isn't it? Since the Daleks were intending to use the reality bomb, it's inescapable that either Adelaide would die along with everyone else anyway and she wasn't really a fixed point in time, or else if she was a fixed point in time that their plan would inevitably fail.

The same applies to being catalyst for the demise of the Doctor. If the bomb worked, the Doctor was doomed anyway.
