Am I the only one who doesn't get it?

It may just be me, but we always bitch on this forum about how it should come down to the public vote, and not the judges, yet Simon does that and we bitch about it even more? It's blatantly just people hating John & Edward, and nothing to do with Simon taking it to the public. Nobody would be complaining if it had gone to the vote and Lucie stayed.

The complaints are from Lucie fans who just can't let go of their idol...the problem is they only have themselves to blame as they didn't vote for her...or there just weren't enough of them...

Personally, I now watch this programme as an entertainment programme...nothing more nothing less...but I would assume that people are annoyed as Simon constantly said they would judge the sing off on the song for survival..and that he has slated the twins for weeks, then when he gets the chance to boot them out, he doesn't.

I am glad they are still in.

Nope - it's an entertainment show and people should treat it as such. From the uproar, you'd think someone had been beaten to death on stage rather than voted off a contest.

This is my opinion on the matter. Whether people want the whole results to be based on the public vote is irrelevant, they aren't at the moment...at least they're not meant to be. The fact remains that there is still a sing off and there should be a judges decision based on that, if the opinions are too divided (which it should rarely be) than they go to deadlock which completely negates the sing off. This is completely unfair to acts like Rachel and Lucie who are evidently the better singers in the sing off (emphasis on the word "sing") and get shorthanded because Simon can't be bothered to grow a pair. Personally, I hate this season because the judges are sending it to deadlock just far too many times for my liking and it almost feels that there is zero point to this sing off anymore. I also think a solution could be showing the sing off, than giving the public five minutes to vote and if the judges fail to reach a decision than the deadlock will be based on that sing off performance, as it should be. Sorry for the long winded post.

i think giving public 5 minutes to vote isn't that good because its just such a small and tight window to get the vote it.

I'd rather they just keep it simple and scrap sing off altogether...it's beginning to lose it's merit. If only the judges at balls to do the right thing and not thinking about the potential income of the show... they should just bring back leona so there'd be someone good to watch this series.

For a moment I wondered if that had actually happened and I'd missed it.

But no, what happened was, one of the contestants in a tv show polled the lowest number of votes and went home.

I'm outraged, I thought they were sent to a farm to run free in the fields.

I wish they'd either scrap the sing off and let the public decide who goes or ensure the judges save one of the acts. They could either have an odd number of judges or in the event of a split give one judge each week the deciding vote like they do on SCD.

I don't like the tactical use of deadlock when it suits the judges.

Yeah, but they could increase it by having the bottom two sing-off in the first part, then have the guest star on, and the results at the end. Simples.

What do you expect on an Xfactor discussion forum? An indepth discussion on the rights and wrongs of our involvement in Afghanistan?

What happened was that the rules of the programme that this section is all about were not followed properly and one of the results is that a campaign of hate against two young lads, who haven't done anythign wrong has been unecessarily ramped up (and no complaining about what happened is not part of that hate campaign)

I am outraged that peoples lives are played about with like that.

Similar to the outrage I feel when I see unsubstantuated accusations on here about acts, even if I do not support them, like Danyl.

The only reason why I'm mad is that Simon has proclaimed to hate the twins week after week but then goes to every effort to save them.

The reason I'm annoyed at Simon is because he totally contradicted himself by attempting to save the twins when he's gone on for weeks about it being "a singing competition". He chose ratings over talent but what can you do? What's done is done.

No, I don't expect a discussion on Afghanistan but perhaps people could look at things with some perspective. People suggesting that not voting for the overs is a good way to get back at Simon. How fair is this to those boys who haven't done anything wrong?

The rules were followed properly. The votes to save the acts were split and thus reverted to the public vote to decide who should be saved. It is not the twins fault that they were saved but by the same token it isn't the judging panel's fault that the stupidity of some extraordinary members of the public has resulted in an elevation of a hate campaign that was already in quite entrenched progression. It is deeply unnecessary and a horrible thing for the twins to endure.

The show's very nature is to play with people's lives. People get chosen to be on the show and then voted off it again. For a lucky few, it changes their lives for the better.

People can change their minds. He's not saying they can sing. One of my favourite acts was voted off because he chose to save the twins and let the public decide but that's his prerogative.

I am a little confused how it is part of the "hate" campaign, I have to say. The majority of this post I am on board with - a hate campaign against any contestant is uncalled for and should be complained about. And indeed, I have complained about it on here on behalf of both Danyl and John and Edward, because it is horrible and a lot more worthy of my "outrage" than anything that happened on Sunday night.

But John and Edward, ultimately, are continuing in the competition, which one presumes they wish to do. The "hate" campaign against them is vile, but has very little to do with this particular problem which seems to be that a lot of people feel that Lucie is the one who should be proceeding.

I do actually understand why people feel that way, and why they are angry at Simon. But in the end, it just doesnt particularly concern me. Sorry, its just how I happen to feel.

No the rules are the the judges judge the performance. OK the farce of mentors judging is part of that but they still vote for their act to stay. Simon voted to go to deadlock. That is not what he is there to do.

I have little doubt that Simon did what he did to whip up the hysteria.

People being voted off by as fair means as possible isn't playing with their lives.

Why not? I think they've all voted to go to deadlock before. If he can't decide which to keep, why shouldn't Simon go to deadlock? That's what it's there for. Sad as I am to admit it, Lucie was voted off fairly. She polled the lowest number of votes.

In that case he's given someone like Jamie the perfect reason to ignore his advice, Jamie can just answer him back with - 'You would probably change your mind anyway.'

Simon has demeaned his own words, which he usually holds in high regard.

If they scrapped the sing off and went to announcing the person with the lowest number of votes this kind of thing could be eliminated.

Are you saying that when you decide something, no one and nothing can change your mind? That's quite some willpower you've got there!

I agree - it's really the best way to decide these things. Then public outrage is directed only at its proper source - itself.

If it came down to the public vote the voting would be a lot higher just like it is when it get's down to the final five
