'Forgive Us: Jedward's 'so, so sorry plea'

From an article in the Mirror:

Quote:
The Irish twins, 18-year-olds John and Edward Grimes, are so upset about the outcry over them remaining in the contest they even asked for a chance to “address the nation” on Saturday’s show, to explain how they are the innocent party in what happened.

Later in a heart-to-heart at the contestants’ house, Jedward told Lucie: “We feel bad. We’re so, so sorry that you didn’t get through, you are an amazing singer.

“We think you are going to have a brilliant career and we hope you won’t blame us.

“It’s been incredible to perform on the show but the last thing we want to do is upset anyone.”

A show source said the pair “never left her side” until Lucie moved out of the house on Monday.

This is getting ridiculous now...

This is unfair on John and Edward...you'd need a heart made of iron not to feel sympathy for them...it's time people left them alone...they are just two innocent young boys...it's not right to pick on kids...let's all vote for Jedward on Saturday to put things right...

No way are they going to be in the bottom two this week

Looks like the sympathy plea will work

They are obviously two softies, naive , tenderhearted boys.I blame Simon for the hate.He keeps fueling it and even encourages the audience to boo.
Yet he keeps them in.Be angry at Simon not the twins.

Rather be angry at the idiots who boo them.

The story certainly appears to be true ; I was already reading reports that they kept apologising to Lucie on Sunday evening (and it may also explain why she stuck up for them on TV so much on Monday morning).

You've got to have a heart of stone not to feel for them.
I strongly dislike Simon Cowell.

But they obviously DO feel distraught and guilty over the whole thing. I'm pretty sure they expected to be gone as soon as they hit the bottom two...not this.

The twins have nothing to be sorry for. It's Simon that's in the wrong.

Honestly, I hope no one takes this out on the twins. I can't see it anyway. The outcry isn't because they're here and Lucie's not, it's because Simon made the decision he did.

Although I think the wrong decison was made on Sunday night, I do feel deeply sorry for them. They're just two kids who grabed an opportunity on the x-factor. Any teenager, regardless of vocal ability, would not have turned this down.

Btw,they can use their VT to 'address the nation' on Saturday.Rather than talk about themselves, they can give their own views about what happened on Sunday if they so desire.

They were in tears at the start of The Xtra Factor.Sure, finishing in the bottom 2 must have been a big blow for them but so was Lucie's departure....it seems they were close to her.

For 2 young men to feel compelled to abjectly apologize for legitimately winning in a public vote on an entertainment programme shows just how far out of kilter certain aspects of this country have become... jesus - It's not too big a stretch to imagine some to expect the poor lads to self-flagellate in their VT on Saturday.

John and Edward are there by right and virtue of the rules governing the competition - they have no need to feel guilty at all.

they looked even more shocked than dannii and lucie on sunday night's xtra factor.

they looked genuinely bewildered to see lucie being the one to go, and became more upset as it transpired they were being blamed by some quarters.

i felt awful for them, and i still do now. they don't deserve all this.

I don't blame the twins for Lucie going. Did they grab her arm, force her to stay in the bottom two and then push her out the door? No.
I do kinda blame Simon but I blame the people that never voted for her more.

I agree that it's a sympathy plea. This "show source" will be Walsh or Cowell. Seems like it's working. Simon's already described them (via the Sinitta mouthpiece) as being like labradors, so now they're described as following Lucie around like a pair of sad puppies.

I've no doubt the lads are sad to see someone go, they'll all be the same, but seeing off the competition is all part of the game and they would know that when they entered - and they would know it when they sang for survival.

It's a loada marshmallows.

This has all got out of hand now and is ridiculous -- they didn't ask to stay in last week and neither did Simon choose them to stay! Simon let the viewers choose and he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't!

Those lads are very entertaining and I hope they get a lot of votes this week and I get annoyed at the rude element in the audience who keep booing them!!!!

I hope all this rubbish doesn't make them do a 'John Sergeant' and back out because the show needs a fun element! I think Lloyd is worse than the twins and is 'weak' by comparison and I hope he and Danyl or Jamie are bottom two this week!

This story has clearly been put out by the Cowell PR machine, as a distraction. The fact is that nobody is blaming John and Edward for this latest fiasco, but Sinitta, Simon, and now John and Edward are making public pleas to try to persuade us not to blame them - even though we weren't in the first place. It's all trick psychology to distract people from the fact that it's Simon Cowell and the other producers who are the culprits, and everyone knows it.

This is why people are angry, or one of the reasons, its like being fed to the wolves, they're 18 year old kids that never asked for this.

But look at what happened at the O2 Arena tonight ; Jedward booed by 75% of the audience it would appear.

I'm not being funny, but why do people even blame Jedward?!!! It REALLY isn't their fault they're still in the competition!

How come no one boo'd/hated Same Difference, The Mcdonald Brothers and even JLS?? Its not like they could sing any better than Jedward really...

I agree - it's that and wanting sympathy for the two labrador retriever puppies following Lucie around and sniffing in her suitcase, all doleful eyes and droopy tails.

They've left off the bit where, being emotional doggies, they both had a little 'accident' on the landing.

Don't hurt the puppies!

Nothing to do with being blamed for what happened on Sunday. They were being booed long before this happened.

i don't blame simon.

i blame the people who are still complaining about the situation yet didn't vote for her.

and i also blame the majority of the people calling for the judges' vote to be scrapped - she still would have gone. no direct blame exactly, they're just getting on my nerves
