Jedward booed at the o2 Arena

somebody on another forum told me this:

Quote:
Quick story to share -

I just got home from a concert at the O2 and those twins were there and everyone around them started booing them. They kept on waving at everyone and as more people realised it was them the boos got louder. So pretty much the whole of the O2 arena booed.
this is brutal

That's sad...Cowell and Walsh are to blame for them being in the competition. They should never have been put in to live shows.

As bad as I think they are, they don't deserve this hostility.

They were performing? Or they were there to watch someone else?

I'm honestly beginning to think that the British public just isn't psychologically equipped to handle a show like the X-Factor.

I can imagine something very nasty happening to the twins once the show is finished, doubtlessly by an outraged 'fan'.

If (or rather 'when' by the looks of things) that happens, it'll be bye-bye X-Factor.

Regards,

Cypher

Totally agree. They're only 17, for God's sake, young lads who don't know what they've let themselves in for.

oh please, if you want the fame then you need to be ready for people to not like you as well. being 18 years old and 'not having done anything wrong' has got nothing to do with it.

if the boys are really affected by this or are on the verge of a breakdown, then it's up to them/or their families to put their hands up and say 'We've had enough, we're going..'

My sister and her girlfriends were there and she said it was loud and sustained(booing), but she also said a lot of people , mainly women were shouting at the booers.

It was bad though, and she felt sorry for them even though she has complained to all and sundry for weeks about them being there in the first place.

Poor guys, booing can never be justified in the context of an act from a singing show, it just seems so mean.
However, we all know they shouldn' t be there too, they are being damaged in the name of TV ratings.

Those poor boys have just been exploited by the show and now they are being hung out to dry. Simon used to say that he was being cruel to be kind at the auditions, when he gave his caustic appraisals and turned the talentless acts away. He seems to have abandoned that policy re the twins, and let an act onto the show that isn't up to the usual standard vocally.

They were only kids when they entered, just 17. They have no prior experience of anything like this. Simon says they are in their own little universe and don't realise how bad they are. Well, he should have thought of that when the xf decided to let them on the show. Those boys were like the thousands of other hopefuls turning up to audition and wouldn't have had a clue that they were being brought onto the show purely as personalities; to be love or hate characters; controversial ; disposable entertainment to be whittled out once the competition got serious. They probably thought they stood a chance.

Apparently ratings have never been higher for the show and ITv is coining it in re advertising revnues. Simon is making a mint; the tabloids are making a mint and the bookies are making a mint. What are the boys making out of it? Simon's mate Max Clifford reckons they will make a lot of money but who knows for sure? Perhaps they will be like other reality stars and just dissapear when their 15 mins are up. At the moment all they have got out of it is that they have become hate figures and cannot even go out of the XF house or attend a concert in peace without facing abuse.

I bet the boys are loving all the fame and attention.

Actually it was Backstreet Boys. I was there last night (this is Jon's wife) and I did leave a thread somewhere about this.

I get the feeling could of been the same regardless of Sunday's results.

They didn't really seem to enjoy it last night. The rest did though as they were waving to the crowd, signing autographs for those in the boxes next to them. Jedward just seem to want to watch the concert and take lots of photos!

The public response to these boys has been awful. To be fair though they're all aware of a possible public dislike when they sign onto this show. However that doesn't mean that they deserve it or that the public response to them is justified. It's not. I felt sorry for the Conway sisters when they were public booed them of various stadiums after the show. And I never approved of the hate Danyl received a few weeks ago. These are TV contestants who jumped at the chance of being in front of millions with a possible shot at stardom and success. They don't deserve this.

The person I really blame in all this is Simon. The twins are innocent really... yet Simon is using them for his own gain. Self-serving until the end.

If I were them I'd have kept a low profile. Flatten that hair, wear a hat and some dark glasses, and probably a false moustache and beard if I was to go out anywhere.

After this week, at least they can be thankful they weren't in Wales.

Bit hard to do when the rest of the contestants are with you and there is a film crew as well!

Oh I agree with you it seems at times to take on the mob mentality which is frightening because it can be infectious.
It stems back to the roots of mankind and the attendant behaviour thereof.

This is all being orchestrated by X factor. They could stop the booing and all the noise from the studio audience any time they wanted, and that's what these other morons are copying.

I have no doubt those boys can handle it, but it makes it clear that any pretence of it being a 'singing competition' is completely cynical.

When I hear booing at the BBC choirboy of the year I'll accept that X factor is a singing competition.
