Rebecca Wheatley's drastic weight loss - 24 stone to 12!!!

I think Rebecca looks AMAZING in this pic!! She looks so different from when she was first in Casualty. Can't believe she lost a massive 12 stone. All credit to her!

Yes, well done to her - but her dramatic weight loss has been reported on several times already over the past few years. This isn't new.

She's done amazingly well but seems to be another one who shops at the Vanessea Feltz shop of fantasy dress sizes. I can't see someone of 12 1/2 stone being a size 12.

Still, fair play to her. It's a big achievement.

Isn't this old news? I'm sure it's been reported a few times before....

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, her weight loss has obviously been going on a while. I knew she had lost some weight, but 12 stone is massive - there'll be nothing of her soon!

She has done brilliantly to keep the weight off, she had lost 12 stone back in 2007 according to her weight loss dvd, this story seems to come around every 6 months.

edit - ohhh just read the story, she has been named Slimming Worlds woman of the year today, thats explains all the publicity again! Good on her

I think she's quite tall - someone of 5ft 10 could easily be a size 12 at 12 stone 7lbs.

I know exactly how she feels. I lost 10 stone within 18 months, and it feels great to wear nice clothes and be noticed. Hubby loves how I look now. But I had no idea I was so big. It was only because we spent so much time doing our home up, that we never really had any time to sit down and have a proper meal. People were commenting on how slim I was looking and to prove it to me, my hubby bought me a pair of size 14 jeans, without an elasticated waist. This caused a few arguements, and I grabbed them off him to prove that they wouldn't fit past my thighs. When I put them on (without struggling on a bed, or holding my belly in) they fitted me perfectly. I used to weigh 25 stone, I am now about 13 stone(ish), but I am 5'7". Next year I want to go on a diet because I will be 40 in January 2011 and I want to look nice.

Did she get all the excess skin cut off after she lost weight? I always wonder where the fat and skin goes

When people lose weight slowly over a long period of time (as Rebecca did) they do not experience anywhere near the saggy skin that rapid weight loss causes. She also does a lot more exercise and that obviously helps too.

People who choose to have gastric band ops and gastric bypass ops lose weight really quickly. Some people lose huge amounts like Rebecca in months. There is no way the body can cope with that and they are often left with "bingo wings" and huge empty rolls of fat on their thighs and bellies. They also get terribly saggy skin on their faces and necks which is very ageing.

Rebecca has also kept her weight off for 2 years which is why she has just become Sliimer of the Year at Slimming World and why this is in the news again.

She is proof that completely changing the way you eat and the way you exercise WILL lead to a good weight loss and you can look younger, healthier and feel healthier, which really is the most important thing.

Well done to her and all the other people (inc Qwertygirl)who have lost weight successfully. There really is no need to cost the NHS money on expensive operations. You just need willpower, motivation and a complete new way of thinking.

Nikki - I know someone who has lost 6.5 stones and she is fabulous. She's a young Mum and she has no saggy skin at all. She also lost weight with SW and took up walking and cycling with her little boy.

She's just been named Slimmer of the Year, because unlike so many, she's actually kept the weight off for a good while now.

She's 5ft 11 inches tall so like you said it's quite easy for someone of her height to be 12 stone and size 12 - I must admit she does looks great though!! Good on her!!

And good on her for keeping the weight off Losing weight is easy, it's staying slender that's difficult and for someone who was drastically overweight to have stayed slim is a great achievement.

I don't know how, the fat just went the more I worked doing D.I.Y, so maybe that was toning me too. Now I do a lot of walking with my dog and in my job I can walk for miles. I love eating salads, not because they're healthy but because my hubby makes them soooooo yummy.

When I met my hubby, I weighed roughly 9 stone. But I was drinking a heck of a lot of cider and he is such a great cook that the weight soon crept up. Giving up the cider helped my weight loss too.

I don't think you're rude at all

Too show that it can be done and to give hope (I think). I hope she didn't take the Fern Britton route, and lost her weight down to good ole fashioned sensible eating and exercise.

I always thought anyone who lost huge amounts of weight had to have nips and tucks you know, I read a few stories (in Closer/Reveal mags) about women getting loose skin cut off

Oh I just read your other post about losing weight slowly and gastric band folk get looser skin..so Fern Britton had loose skin probably

It's amazing the weight just falls off though, I have always wondered where it goes..I looked it up it's all very scientific how it works

I didn't know about this, well done to her!

A friend of mine has lost 14 stone in 2 and a half years. She is enquiring into having some loose skin taken off. She exercised since day one, but I guess everyone's bodies cope differently and she still looks fabulous! :]
