Second Hand Sky + HD Boxes

Hi
Bought a box off Ebay because my old Plasma does'nt have a Hdmi socket .
Thomson Ds18215
Model 902020
Op Sys 1.32b12
Epg 8.3.2

Unpugged my old Sky+ box , plugged in the Hd box , flicked to Ch 143 , perfect BBC HD , popped in my viewing card got all channels , don't have Anytime yet , box has been on for 26 hrs now ( how long does it take ) ? .

So , should i have done a new install and wait for call back and then ring up and tell them i've changed boxes , or do as i've done and just call them and tell them i've changed boxes .

I suppose the next question is , is the extra £10 for the HD channels worth it ? , i think not , would be nice to see movies in HD .

It can take up to 7 days for the service to fully populate, although one or two progs should appear within 24 - unless you are using a single feed, or have a lot of recording getting in the way.

You can increase the rate at which it populates by making sure you always leave it in standby when not watching it.

What you have done will work just fine.

Only you can decide that - I'd suggest that you look at what you normally watch and then look at how much is actually available in HD. Also look at BBC HD and C4HD and decide if the picture quality is actually worth £120 (the £10 is for a minimum contract term of 12 months).

You won't get Anytime TV until the card is paired to the box, so you will have to call Sky and do this or you will have a very long wait for Anytime.

I called Sky this morning and got the the box paired .

Very good picture on BBC HD and CH 4 HD , for a TV that's 5 yr old and a Thomson box that's supposed have a crap picture , i'm well impressed , only thing i can't do is add ITV HD , does appear in the add channels list , do i need to change the freq to 10510 then do a search for channels ? .

You have to add it and do a channels search by changing it to the right frequency(11428h 27500 2/3), then it will appear on the other channels list with ID "10510"
